'''Event Challenges''' are a type of month-long event that have taken place every month since May 2023. The current Event Challenge and the players current progress on the missions can be viewed by clicking on the "Event Challenge" tab. This tab displays a green tile featuring a big flower at its center, with a circular track arranged around the big flower, which is split into four quarters. Beneath this, missions are shown with various requirements for completion; steps taken, flowers planted, Pikmin grown, petals plucked, expeditions done, or mushrooms destroyed. The player's [[Mii]] is displayed marching upon the track, and will advance as missions are completed, leaving a trail of flowers behind them. As each of the four quarters are completed, new missions will be presented, and the [[Big Flower]] in the center will grow through its phases; from a few tiny shoots at first, to a sprout, then a bud, and finally into a bloomed Big Flower once the challenge stage is completed. Upon completion, the challenge stage will advance, awarding the player a [[Gold Seedling]] of the event's Special [[Decor Pikmin]] and placing them upon a new track with a new Big Flower to grow. There are four challenge stages in total, each with their own missions, and each event's missions vary slightly. Upon completing the fourth stage, the player will reset to the first stage and restart the process.

When a mission is completed, tapping its entry will bring the player to a roulette screen displaying six items, with one of the player's Pikmin beneath. These items range from various types of [[petal]]s, items such as [[mushroom recharge ticket]]s, [[#Event Currency|event currency]] for the current event, or a Huge or Gold Seedling of the event's Special Decor Pikmin. If 6 spins of the roulette wheel are done without receiving a Seedling, the next wheel with a Seedling as a reward is guaranteed to be a pity wheel, with the only possible reward being a Gold Seedling. Tapping will cause the item roulette to begin revolving, and tapping again will cause the roulette to slow, stopping as the Pikmin jumps and taps the winning block, with the Pikmin waving happily as the prize is displayed. If the player does not tap the second time, this process will eventually conclude on its own. ==Premium Event Pass==

The Premium Event Pass is a unique item available in the [[shop]] during nearly all Event Challenges since the [[#2023 Fingerboard Decor Pikmin|2023 Fingerboard Decor Pikmin Event]]. Only players [[Level#Pikmin Bloom|Level 20]] and above are able to purchase the pass. It always costs {{icon|Coin}} 999 coins, and features the same benefits. It is a one-time purchase, and the benefits only apply to the event during which the pass is purchased.
These benefits include:
*Choosing a special Colored [[Gold Seedling]] for a specific type of Decor Pikmin after clearing all 4 stages of the event missions.
*Getting extra seasonal [[Nectar#In Pikmin Bloom |nectar]] when each stage of the event mission is cleared, with a total of 160 nectar after all 4 stages.
*If the pass is purchased within the first week of the event, a bonus of 500 [[#Event Currency|event currency]] for the current event is given as a bonus.
==Mystery Boxes==
During all Event Challenges since the [[#2023 Halloween Event|2023 Halloween Event]], [[Mushroom battle|mushrooms]] have rewarded Mystery Boxes once defeated. Since the [[#2024 Lunar New Year Event|2024 Lunar New Year Event]], Mystery Boxes are only rewarded when completing a battle against an [[Mushroom battle#Event mushrooms|event mushroom]]. These boxes always appear at the completion of a battle, after viewing the total score. The rewards that Mystery Boxes contain varies between Event Challenges, and some events have had unique designs or types of Mystery Boxes.
The rewards change slightly between Event Challenges, but always consist of either [[seedling|Huge or Gold Seedlings]] for a specific type of [[Decor Pikmin]], [[#Event Currency|event currency]], [[petal]]s, [[Nectar#In Pikmin Bloom|nectar]], or any of the items that are available in the [[shop]]. There are almost always two types of Mystery Boxes, and the rarer types consist of more valuable rewards, such as Seedlings or high amounts of Event Currency. ==Event Currency==
During all Event Challenges since the [[#2023 Halloween Event|2023 Halloween Event]], a special type of currency has been made available to obtain through various methods. This currency has a unique design for each Event Challenge, but always functions the same way, and has only had small changes between each appearance. Event Currency is obtained by clearing event challenge missions, [[flower planting]], and through various methods in the [[shop]].
Event Currency has no use outside of it’s respective event, and is only used to progress through a mission list to obtain [[Mii]] parts and [[Gold Seedling]]s. The missions progress automatically as currency is collected.

Starting from {{date|8|May|2023}} a new system for events was established, and the events tab was replaced by the "event challenge" tab. This tab displays a green tile featuring a big flower at its center, with a circular track arranged around the big flower, which is split into four sections. Beneath this, missions are shown with various requirements for completion; steps taken, flowers planted, Pikmin grown, petals plucked or mushrooms destroyed. The player's Mii is displayed marching upon the track, and will advance as missions are completed, leaving a trail of flowers behind them. As each of the four sections is completed new missions will be presented, and the big flower in the center will grow through its phases; from a few tiny shoots at first, to a sprout, then a bud, and finally into a bloomed big flower once the challenge stage is completed. Upon completion the challenge stage will advance, awarding the player a Gold Seedling of the month's limited-time decor, and placing them upon a new track with a new big flower to grow. Graffiti Jackets were a permanent addition, whilst the Sneakers were available from {{date|28|May}} to {{date|2|June|2023}}, and included Special Missions that rewarded the matching Sneaker Decor Pikmin which needed to be completed by {{date|31|July|2023}}.

From {{date|1|June|2023}} through to {{date|21|June|2023}}, the previously released Fingerboard Decor Pikmin returned, along with the remaining types for the set. The event uses the same system as the Sneaker Keychain decor Pikmin. A pity system was added to the roulette where if players have yet to receive a seedling for 11 consecutive spins, the players 12th spin will have a guaranteed chance of a Gold Seedling.

The Chess Piece Decor Pikmin Event Challenge took place from {{date|22|June}} at 00:00 until {{date|20|July|2023}} at 23:59 local time. From {{date|22|June|2023}} through to {{date|20|July|2023}}, the previously released Chess Decor Pikmin returned, along with the remaining types for the set. There was a total of 14 Decor to get, 7 white chess pieces and 7 black chess pieces. There were clothing items released that were either loosely chess themed or just black and white, and there were Chess Piece Hats which would also give a mission that rewarded a Gold Seedling that contained a Chess Piece Decor Pikmin that wore the same hat. These hats were available until {{date|21|July|2023}}.

There was a total of 7 Decor to get, Red, Yellow, Blue, White and Winged had a ship based on the [[S.S. Beagle]], whilst Purple and Rock had ships based on the [[S.S. Shepherd]].

This event resembled the 2023 New Years Event, with a new decor category of "2024 Glasses Decor Pikmin" released. It followed the already established roulette rounds model, with rewards varying between the usual petals, gold or huge event seedlings, freemium items, and the event currency "Party Poppers". Party Poppers were also rewarded for planting flowers (at a rate of 1 poppers per 100 flowers planted) and for clearing mushrooms. Giant Mysterious mushrooms were guaranteed to drop 150 Party Poppers, while all other mushrooms dropped 60, 70, 80, 150, or something else, like [[mushroom recharge ticket]]s. All mushrooms destroyed would drop some kind of mystery box rewards. Giant Mysterious mushrooms appeared on three weekends during the event (Jan 13/14, Jan 20/21 and Jan 27/28). Event Challenges are a type of month-long event that have taken place every month since May 2023. The current Event Challenge and the players current progress on the missions can be viewed by clicking on the "Event Challenge" tab. This tab displays a green tile featuring a big flower at its center, with a circular track arranged around the big flower, which is split into four quarters. Beneath this, missions are shown with various requirements for completion; steps taken, flowers planted, Pikmin grown, petals plucked, expeditions done, or mushrooms destroyed. The player's Mii is displayed marching upon the track, and will advance as missions are completed, leaving a trail of flowers behind them. As each of the four quarters are completed, new missions will be presented, and the Big Flower in the center will grow through its phases; from a few tiny shoots at first, to a sprout, then a bud, and finally into a bloomed Big Flower once the challenge stage is completed. Upon completion, the challenge stage will advance, awarding the player a Gold Seedling of the event's Special Decor Pikmin and placing them upon a new track with a new Big Flower to grow. There are four challenge stages in total, each with their own missions, and each event's missions vary slightly. Upon completing the fourth stage, the player will reset to the first stage and restart the process.

When a mission is completed, tapping its entry will bring the player to a roulette screen displaying six items, with one of the player's Pikmin beneath. These items range from various types of petals, items such as mushroom recharge tickets, event currency for the current event, or a Huge or Gold Seedling of the event's Special Decor Pikmin. If 6 spins of the roulette wheel are done without receiving a Seedling, the next wheel with a Seedling as a reward is guaranteed to be a pity wheel, with the only possible reward being a Gold Seedling. Tapping will cause the item roulette to begin revolving, and tapping again will cause the roulette to slow, stopping as the Pikmin jumps and taps the winning block, with the Pikmin waving happily as the prize is displayed. If the player does not tap the second time, this process will eventually conclude on its own. The timing or absence of a tap does not affect the outcome, as each prize is predetermined.[1]

Premium Event Pass

The Premium Event Pass is a unique item available in the shop during nearly all Event Challenges since the 2023 Fingerboard Decor Pikmin Event. Only players Level 20 and above are able to purchase the pass. It always costs Coin 999 coins, and features the same benefits. It is a one-time purchase, and the benefits only apply to the event during which the pass is purchased.

These benefits include:

  • Choosing a special Colored Gold Seedling for a specific type of Decor Pikmin after clearing all 4 stages of the event missions.
  • Getting extra seasonal nectar when each stage of the event mission is cleared, with a total of 160 nectar after all 4 stages.
  • If the pass is purchased within the first week of the event, a bonus of 500 event currency for the current event is given as a bonus.

Mystery Boxes

During all Event Challenges since the 2023 Halloween Event, mushrooms have rewarded Mystery Boxes once defeated. Since the 2024 Lunar New Year Event, Mystery Boxes are only rewarded when completing a battle against an event mushroom. These boxes always appear at the completion of a battle, after viewing the total score. The rewards that Mystery Boxes contain varies between Event Challenges, and some events have had unique designs or types of Mystery Boxes.

The rewards change slightly between Event Challenges, but always consist of either Huge or Gold Seedlings for a specific type of Decor Pikmin, event currency, petals, nectar, or any of the items that are available in the shop. There are almost always two types of Mystery Boxes, and the rarer types consist of more valuable rewards, such as Seedlings or high amounts of Event Currency. Rarer types of Mystery Boxes always feature an ornament on the top of the Mystery Box.

Event Currency

During all Event Challenges since the 2023 Halloween Event, a special type of currency has been made available to obtain through various methods. This currency has a unique design for each Event Challenge, but always functions the same way, and has only had small changes between each appearance. Event Currency is obtained by clearing event challenge missions, flower planting, and through various methods in the shop.

Event Currency has no use outside of it’s respective event, and is only used to progress through a mission list to obtain Mii parts and Gold Seedlings. The missions progress automatically as currency is collected.

The Fingerboard Decor Pikmin Event Challenge took place from June 1st at 00:00 until June 21st, 2023 at 23:59 local time. Features of this event included:[3]

  • This event introduced new designs of the Fingerboard Special Decor Pikmin type for Blue, White, and Rock Pikmin. The existing Fingerboard Decor Pikmin from the 2022 Fingerboard Decor Pikmin Event were also available to obtain.

  • This event introduced the Premium Event Pass and the pity wheel to the Event Challenge system.

  • This event introduced new designs and colors of the Chess Piece Special Decor Pikmin type for all Pikmin types. The existing Chess Piece Decor Pikmin from the 2022 Chess Piece Decor Pikmin Event were also available to obtain.
  • An Event Challenge Special Pack and new Mii costumes were available in the shop for the duration of the event. The newly introduced Chess Piece hats included Special Missions that rewarded the matching type and color of Chess Piece Decor Pikmin upon completion.
  • Gold Seedlings from Event Challenge missions and from referral codes grew into a random type of Chess Piece Decor Pikmin. The available color of Chess Piece Decor Pikmin changed every Thursday, which was also reflected in the shop via the color of the Chess Piece hats.

The Pikmin 4 Spaceship Decor Pikmin Event Challenge took place from July 21st at 00:00 until August 13th, 2023 at 23:59 local time, to celebrate the release of Pikmin 4. Features of this event included:[5]

  • This event introduced the Pikmin 4 Spaceship Special Decor Pikmin type. Red, Yellow, Blue, White, and Winged Pikmin wear spaceships based on the S.S. Beagle, and Purple and Rock Pikmin wear spaceships based on the S.S. Shepherd.
  • Gold Seedlings from Event Challenge missions and from referral codes grew into a random type of Pikmin 4 Spaceship Decor Pikmin.
  • Special Mission Tickets, an Event Challenge Special Pack, and the Premium Event Pass were available in the shop for the duration of the event.
  • During the event, Pikmin 4 Spaceship Decor Pikmin were stronger against mushrooms, gaining an additional 25 points of attack power. Koppaite Space Suit Decor Pikmin also gained an additional 25 points of attack power, because of the Pikmin 3 Deluxe Throwback Event that took place right before this event.

2023 Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin

The Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin Event Challenge took place from August 14th at 00:00 until September 10th, 2023 at 23:59 local time. Features of this event included:[6]

  • The event was divided into two parts; the first part started on August 14th, and the second part on August 26th, 2023.
  • This event introduced the Mahjong Tile Special Decor Pikmin type. These Decor Pikmin wear mahjong tiles on their bodies, with a different tile for each type of Pikmin. There are 2 different tiles for all Pikmin types, with a total of 14 new Decor Pikmin. Each set of 7 Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin were obtained through different methods during the different parts of the event.

In the first part:

  • The first set of Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin could be obtained through Seedlings from Event Challenge missions.

In the second part:

  • Mystery mushrooms were added, coming only in the "Normal" size. Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin had a much higher attack power than other Pikmin. All mushrooms were converted to these mushrooms at the start of the event, and continued to appear throughout the event.
  • A new set of limited-time missions were introduced with a focus on destroying mushrooms. Clearing each mission gave a Mahjong themed T-shirt, with three total to obtain.
  • Defeating a mushroom would grant the player a Mystery Box once completed, using the Default Mystery Box designs.
    • Seedlings from Mystery Boxes grew into any of the second set of Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin.

During both parts:

  • Gold Seedlings from referral codes grew into a random type of Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin from both sets.
  • Special Mission Tickets, an Event Challenge Special Pack, and the Premium Event Pass were available in the shop.
  • Mahjong Tile Decor Pikmin were stronger against mushrooms, gaining an additional 20 points of attack power.
  • All features of the first part of the event were active during the second part of the event.

The Halloween Event Challenge took place from October 6th at 00:00 until October 31st, 2023 at 23:59 local time. Features of this event included:[8]

  • This event introduced the Halloween Treat Special Decor Pikmin type. These Decor Pikmin wear Halloween-themed candy, lollipops, and muffins, with a unique design for each type of Pikmin.
  • This event introduced Event Currency to the Event Challenge system. The design of Event Currency for this event was Halloween Candy.
  • Gold Seedlings from Event Challenge missions, Event Currency missions, and from referral codes grew into a random type of Halloween Treat Decor Pikmin.
  • Jack-o'-Lantern Decor Pikmin from the 2022 Halloween Event were also available to obtain through Seedlings from Mystery Boxes.
  • Special Mission Tickets, an Event Challenge Special Pack, Halloween Gift Packs, new and returning Mii costumes, and the Premium Event Pass were available in the shop for the duration of the event.
    • This event introduced two changes to the Premium Event Pass that stayed for all future Event Challenges. Players Level 20 and above were now able to purchase the pass, instead of Level 50, and purchasing the pass within the first week of the event granted high amounts of Event Currency as a bonus.
  • During the event, Jack-o'-lantern and Halloween Treat Decor Pikmin were stronger against mushrooms, gaining an additional 25 points of attack power.
  • Halloween mushrooms were reintroduced, coming in both "Normal" and "Giant" sizes. Jack-o'-Lantern Decor Pikmin had a much higher attack power than other Pikmin, and Halloween Treat Decor Pikmin had an even higher attack power. All mushrooms were converted to these mushrooms at the start of the event, and continued to appear throughout the event.
