Hey! Pikmin enemy stats
Hi Espyo. I've noticed that nearly every single Hey! Pikmin enemy stat table isn't filled out, or is only partially filled out, so I've been wondering if pikipedia can change it. This is probably because much of the categories (Weight, max carriers, regen, and seeds (pikmin seeds) are irrelevant as none of these mechanics are used in that game. Pikipedia was should probably invent a different stats table exclusive to Hey! Pikmin enemies. For enemies that appear in hey! Pikmin and other games (bulborb, fiery blowhog), there can be 2 different stats tables for those enemies, one for the main games, and one for H!P. I was thinking we can delete the max carriers, weight, and regen categories, and replace the seeds with sparklium, which some enemies drop upon death. We can also fix the health category by putting in the number of pikmin/pikmin hits needed to kill it, since there seems to not be any health values recorded. Although this would be smaller, the stats table would be more accurate. Maybe we can even come up with a new stats like speed. -CrazyCow
:Hi. Hm, that sounds like a good idea. The enemies do have a health number, and we can get that from the game files. It's just that nobody's done that yet. Pointing down the number of Pikmin throws it takes to kill isn't as reliable, especially because different Pikmin types cause different amounts of damage (I think). I'm also not sure if any enemy regenerates. If you could confirm that, that'd be nice. &mdash; {EspyoT} 16:59, 10 January 2019 (EST)

Pikipedia pages:
::Okey. So it seems like different Pikmin types do different damages (Reds do more, Wingeds do less). It seems like no one has really recorded the health, as the pikmin technological base wiki only supplies the internal names of enemies, and basically nothing else. Although we can measure the health using Yellow and Blue Pikmin, which mostly are referred to do "normal" damage, it wouldn't be a very accurate way to do this. However, most enemies in the game only need on hit to kill, regardless of the pikmin type, but the value of this is still uncertain. Some tables have 0 filled out in this case, while the Pikmin Fanon, another pikmin site has them filled out as 1. Oh yeah, and no enemy regenerates, as the corpses disappear and none do it like the Plasm Wraith. Perhaps we can use the technical damage used by Yellows and Blues from other games, and multiply that damage by the amount of hits to kill? Thanks for your feedback. Also, the glitches you mentioned are interesting, but they aren't really easily reproducible, so they don't really meet our criteria for glitch articles.
:::Note that the wiki on fandom has been abandoned for years, and is filled with misinformation. Other than that, the values do exist in the files, as I've seen them. It's just that they never got documented anywhere by anyone. I want to find the time to do that one day... We could measure from the number of hits of a "normal" Pikmin, but there are a few problems. For one thing, there's the human error; a person counting dozens of hits by hand is bound to accidentally miscount one or two, and the situation becomes harder if, for instance, a Pikmin decides to jump on the enemy's back. Plus, I'm sure some enemies only appear in stages that only feature certain types of non-normal Pikmin. Getting the values from the game files and setting stuff up similarly to how the mainline games's stats table works should be easy enough. I'll try to do that as soon as I can. &mdash; {EspyoT} 18:35, 14 January 2019 (EST)

:About your suggested screenshots of enemies - you realise the Smoky Progg has a non-reel one further down the page?
:::Okay, this is not going to be easy. Finding which files correspond to which enemies is a nightmare in and of itself. Then, we need to check if those health parameters in the files are even read by the game or not. I think this might need to be a mission for another time... &mdash; {EspyoT} 14:02, 19 January 2019 (EST)

::The infobox probably shouldn't have the reel image though. Also, yeah, the ClamClamp really needs a better iamge.
::::Okay. I guess we can keep it the same for now and just focus on filling out the seeds dropped, which is a pretty definite value. There are also more important things to do, like cleaning those articles up, so I guess we should wait a while until we do this.

Voyage Log
:::::Agreed! Though... while checking the game files, I could've sworn I found some fields that allow the area developers to override the seeds that an enemy can give... If this value is not definite, then documenting that will be a problem as well. &mdash; {EspyoT} 14:21, 19 January 2019 (EST)
Not to make you feel uncomfortable, but I'd like you thank you for doing Olimar's voyage logs. I spent hours and days last winter doing data entry for the treasure and enemy notes, so I know how it feels.
:Gee... Thanks. It really is a sort of complicated process, but nonetheless, fairly easy. What you searched yourself was probably some very hard work as well. As for the journal entries themselves, I really believe Nintendo made 60, seeing as the page currently has 53, and I strongly doubt that they made a number as weird as 53 for entries. I'll try to find them all as time passes by. <span style="color:grey;">[SRB2]</span><span style="color:#800080;"><u>Espyo</u></span>T

Quick question
I think I know the ones you're missing, because I've gotten these entries before. They're listed as enemies:
Can you shoot me an email-- wait, nevermind, I found a way to the google doc through my recently accessed docs. Just so you're aware, there's no way to the list of files the wiki still needs for H!P that I can find ON the wiki. *Puffstool (I got the message before, but I can only remember his drawing of it, no descriptions)
:That list is more or less private. Plus, it's temporary. When we only have a few of them left to go, I'll make a list on the wiki proper, but till then, we'll use the document just to get a running start. &mdash; {EspyoT} 11:12, 22 September 2017 (EDT)
*Beady Long Legs (He points out that the center orb is the "sole weakpoint")
*Burrowing Snagret (His drawing has an arrow that shows where you have to attack)
*Armored Cannon Beetle (He talks about clogging up the airhole)
*Wollwog ("There is a troublesome creature by the water...")
*Candypop Bud (Talks about how it changes Pikmin colors.)
*Goolix (The picture shows Pikmin staring at the Goolix with a question mark. This might be #60 and the last entry.)
*Breadbug (this one's not a definite. But if it is, then this is #61...) <span style="color:blue">Portal-</span><span style="color:orange">Kombat</span>
:Thanks! I've been trying for ever to get those entries, but it's just very hard... I won't give up until I find all 60, though. I added the ones that were missing to my user page. Thanks again. <span style="color:grey;">[SRB2]</span><span style="color:#800080;"><u>Espyo</u></span>T

I think this is how I got entries for the enemies while playing Pikmin:
Pikmin 3 beta elements
*Do a little bit of damage
*Take a little bit of damage
*Maybe lose a couple Pikmin
*Go to Sunset (Pretty much ensures that nothing else will happen that day to give you a different entry)
This isn't 100% accurate, but it's probably the best way to get the entries. Good luck! (Note: I think that the Breadbug one IS REAL. The picture shows the Breadbug fighting over a pellet with a Pikmin.)<span style="color:blue">Portal-</span><span style="color:orange">Kombat</span>

Sorry for the confusion. I actually posted another message on Talk:Piklopedia (Pikmin 2) earlier. ==Problem with the notes==

Hi Espyo. I found a difference in the notes of the Orange Bulborb between the GC and Wii (Europe only) versions of the game. As such, I made this. I thought it'd work like the notes for the treasures, so I tried putting Notes|olimar=y|olimarwiieu=y|louie=y, but it didn't work. I guess I shouldn't have created this page, but I'm a bit lost as to how I can include those notes in the article. How can I include them while keeping the GC notes? Thanks!
:I'll come up with a richer system for the notes later today. Hopefully that'll be enough. You can leave the page as it is, and it'll work when I set this up. &mdash; {EspyoT} 11:44, 29 December 2016 (EST)

First off I was wondering if any info on that "mimic bud" I talked about awhile ago was uncovered, according to the video description
it's internal name is "NamaPongashi" if that helps any, and also out of curiousity, your name wouldn't happen to be based on a certain pink ninja chamelian would it?Pikmin Theories (talk) 21:04, 8 February 2017 (EST)
:I haven't taken a look yet. BielR3 did do some research, of course, but his info isn't enough to reach any meaningful conclusions... I'll try to find the time to take a peek soon. Although if its name is "nama", that translates to "raw", or "unprocessed", so I think it makes more sense to assume that this plant is just a regular Candypop Bud before its parameters are set. So it's not an object in and of itself, it's just a "default" state for the Bud. And probably! I got my nickname when I was into Sonic, so that very likely influenced it, but I can't remember for sure. &mdash; {EspyoT} 03:59, 9 February 2017 (EST)

I see, anyway on a nonrelated related Pikmin topic. Have you ever read the fanfiction by Sarsars "My adventure with Olimar"?
I just got done reading it, it's like the first Pikmin game, but several things have changed, mainly new monsters, and bosses appearance and attack pattern are different.Pikmin Theories (talk) 09:33, 9 February 2017 (EST)
:I haven't. I don't usually read fanfics. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:01, 9 February 2017 (EST)

I know it's been awhile, but I just had a thought, if this "Mimic bud" is just a default bud, then why would it kill the Pikmin? Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't it just revert them to seeds rather then killing them? Like say, throwing reds into a Crimson Candypop bud, for example..... Pikmin Theories (talk) 13:17, 25 May 2017 (EDT)
:Maybe when the Pikmin goes in, the game first kills the original Pikmin that got inserted, and then checks the Candypop's data to see what new Pikmin to spit out. If it has this data, it spits out a brand new Pikmin of the right type. If it doesn't have the data, it just doesn't do anything. &mdash; {EspyoT} 13:56, 25 May 2017 (EDT)

:Hey! This is the official Nintendo of Poland page, is it? I think that's fair. Feel free to edit it, but I think changing it to alphabetical order might not be a good idea. Having it ordered from the most "canon", most English language, to the least canon or popular one might make more sense, for reader convenience, for instance. Also, is there any way that I can make a new page for me, to add things like my signature? <b><span style="color:orange">B</span></b>T 10:52, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
:Hm, that sounds like a good idea, actually! Go for it. And if you want to create a page for yourself, for you to test around things in or write personal notes, you can create a user page under your name. What this means is that you can create a page called "User:Ben/tests", replacing "tests" with whatever you want. You can create a new page by using the form on the Main Page, or by entering the URL for the page you want in your internet browser, and then clicking the button to create a page that shows up. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:57, 28 October 2018 (EDT)

Plot sections
I've noticed that for each area of Hey! Pikmin, there is a plot section. However, I was wondering if those parts are needed in all pages, because a lot of areas don't have any importance to the plot of the game. == Undiscovered glitch? ==

Hey, Espyo!
I was playing New Play Control! Pikmin and something weird happened. I had my Pikmin get the Gravity Jumper, when I realized that I didn’t build the bridge OR destroy any walls in the entire Forest Navel. I went to find some Bomb Rocks, when the Pikmin somehow got to the ship with the part! When I had last seen them, they were confused not knowing where to go! Was it some sort of glitch? I scanned the area, but couldn’t find any way they could have made it to the Dolphin.  So did I miss something, because I’ve only had the game for a few days, or is this an undiscovered glitch?
Thanks!

:Hey there! Yeah, that does sound odd. Since you have the Wii remake, can you go back to the same day and try to recreate what you did? If you can replicate it, we might be on to something. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened... &mdash; {EspyoT} 07:32, 29 December 2018 (EST)

::Okay, I tried it, and I got an interesting result. The Pikmin made it back to the ship without delay OR any walls being destroyed in the process. So, when the Pikmin were confused for the minute I watched them a glitch, or do I just have dumb Pikmin?

:::I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that if the game is a bit overloaded, it keeps the Pikmin in a "stuck" state for a couple of seconds while it tries to figure out what path they should take. Hello
I was going through the recent changes when I saw one that was highly inappropriate. I checked their other edits and noticed they were either very rude/offensive, and most of all, very untrue. Some pages, like Alph’s, were completely messed up. I’m fixing as many as I can, but there are a lot of stuff wrong. Is there any way that they can be banned? The username is 172.58.56.130. == Strange pikmin sounds ==
One day I watched Pikmin live streaming with many Japanese fans and some non-Japanese ones, One poor Japanese fan, Who wanted to tell "Ultra-bitter spray", but cannot speak English at all, chatted its compressed name in Romanization of Japanese (though it doesn't make any sense at all), "niga(bitter)". As you know it's morally evil in English, The atmosphere in that streaming suddenly become freaking out, and had a bad time (of course I explained what it means and told everyone). I remembered that painful memory until I edited Infernal Vegetable, and thought someone will make the same mistake again, I noted. However on second thought, people who should know that are Japanese fan, but not non-Japanese speakers, since non-Japanese speakers don't have chance to even know that Japanese word... After that is exact the same with your editing note.

Okay, i had a weird event like yours. it was like:

And i say: WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT SOUND!?
:It's all right, don't worry about it. Your story shows that some people are a bit too sensitive. The word is very taboo, but it's not the fault of the Japanese word for "bitter". If a person is using the n-word as it is, they should be careful, and if they are saying it on purpose, that's not good. But if they're just innocently talking about the spray, it's just a coincidence. Either way, I respect that you were worried about any misunderstandings. But thankfully it's not that complex, and we can just keep the Romanization as it is without any issue. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:53, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

Category:Map images, Category:Radar patterns, and Category:Maps
At the moment, :Category:Map images, :Category:Radar patterns, and :Category:Maps are very disorganized categories. From what I can tell, :Category:Map images is a very old category for map-type images, :Category:Radar patterns is specifically for textures of maps from the radar, and :Category:Maps is where :Template:File info places images with the type of Map. There's a lot of overlap in what types of images they cover, particularly in the case of :Category:Map images and :Category:Maps. In order to sort out this mess, I propose that :Category:Maps be merged with :Category:Map images by editing :Template:File info, and all the radar textures in :Category:Map images be moved to :Category:Radar patterns (over time, as there are several), and all the non-maps in :Category:Map images be removed. Perhaps we could have a category specifically for custom-made diagrams as well. It is too late at night for me to reliably work out how to make hyperlinks work given my current bout of illness, so forgive the plaintext here, but on the article for " https://www.pikminwiki.com/Glitches_in_Pikmin_3#Hard_to_reproduce ", the link next to the "Hard to reproduce" entry for "By changing from a leader that is in the Sandbelching Meerslug's fight to a leader that is elsewhere just before the boss is defeated, the game may show the defeat cutscene with the camera underground, and may then lock up. == A question about Pikcross ==

Edit port
Hello! On the April Fool's article, it says you're the programmer for the Pikcross April Fool's game, so I figure you're probably best suited to answer this question. I come asking on behalf of the Mario Wiki if it would be fine to use the Pikcross source code for an upcoming community event, as there's plans to include Picross puzzles as part of it, and the Pikcross game engine more than meets the requirements for having an in-browser Picross engine. This would be a modified version of Pikcross, hosting its own puzzles and presumably hosting its own graphics as well, but using the pre-existing code as a basis for it.

:I won't bother porting those edits 'cause it's all qualitative stuff.
I figured since the source code is freely linked in the article itself, it's probably alright, but I wanted to ask just in case there's any problems with attribution or what-have-you. Camwoodstock (talk) 14:46, April 28, 2023 (EDT)

:Hey. I never gave the code a license, so it befalls under the wiki's standard CC BY SA 3.0. Even if I did bother to add a license I'd probably pick that. So just be sure to give proper attribution, and knock yourself out! The engine is slightly glitchy here and there, since I never had time to iron out the kinks, but it should be pretty well-documented and organized. If you come up with any improvements, please let me know so I can backport them to Pikcross. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:35, April 29, 2023 (EDT)

I've been meaning to link you to this for a day or 2, I made a very hacky BMG extractor that hopefully works with every game. Here is a link to the script, it's python (it should work with either version) bmg2txt.py file.bmg (-v -e -c) - the v is for verbose, it doesn't do much right now but it does print some more debug stuff, -e is for extract, and -c is for printing the 1A system arguments/commands, and order of those 3 arguments doesn't matter.

Here is the english version, here is the english version with commands, here is the japanese version, and here is the japanese version with commands. Haven't gotten my hands on a PAL version tho, but it should work just as well since all I'm doing is seperating the entire DAT1 section into individual bytes, parsing them to either remove, or format the output of commands, and do some newline checks. It's quick and hacky but it works. I can attempt to see what differences there may be/translate it based on english since they're probably almost exactly the same, if you don't want to. Hey Espyo. I see you're a big editor on Pikipedia, and I'm pretty sure you're an admin here, if I'm correct. I used to be a former editor on this wiki, but I soon moved to the Pikmin Wikia. You've probably heard of us. Anyways, we can't help but notice that you seem to be the only active editor on this wiki. And that's not all. The things you've been doing for this wiki are things that we at the Pikmin Wikia are unable to get at the moment, such as Ripping textures for all Pikipedia Icons, or make HD maps of the areas in Pikmin. Now, I'm here, on behalf of all Admins on the Pikmin Wikia, and all the other big editors, such as myself, to ask you of something. I would like you to meet the Admins of our Wiki, so we could have a quick discussion, regarding the future of our two wikis. Our admins have requested to talk with you, since you seem to be the most active editor on this wiki. This isn't a direct message for you to come join our wiki, and you might not even want to join our wiki. However, if you feel comfortable, the admins request that they could at least get to meet you and talk things out. The conversation will most likely happen on Skype, so if you agree to sit down and talk to our Admins, I will inform you of all Skype details needed. If Skype can't work out, we will surely find an alternative. Thanks for reading this message (I know it's pretty long), because I know you're a busy guy. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Hey! Pikmin enemy stats[edit]

-CrazyCow

Hi. — {EspyoT} 16:59, 10 January 2019 (EST)
Okey. CrazyCow (talk) 18:14, 13 January 2019 (EST)
Oops I meant "fandom" not fanon sorry CrazyCow (talk) 18:23, 13 January 2019 (EST)
Note that the wiki on fandom has been abandoned for years, and is filled with misinformation. — {EspyoT} 18:35, 14 January 2019 (EST)
Okay, this is not going to be easy. Finding which files correspond to which enemies is a nightmare in and of itself. Then, we need to check if those health parameters in the files are even read by the game or not. I think this might need to be a mission for another time... — {EspyoT} 14:02, 19 January 2019 (EST)
Okay. I guess we can keep it the same for now and just focus on filling out the seeds dropped, which is a pretty definite value. There are also more important things to do, like cleaning those articles up, so I guess we should wait a while until we do this.
Agreed! Though... while checking the game files, I could've sworn I found some fields that allow the area developers to override the seeds that an enemy can give... If this value is not definite, then documenting that will be a problem as well. — {EspyoT} 14:21, 19 January 2019 (EST)

Quick question[edit]

Can you shoot me an email-- wait, nevermind, I found a way to the google doc through my recently accessed docs. Just so you're aware, there's no way to the list of files the wiki still needs for H!P that I can find ON the wiki. Amnesiacjournal (talk) 10:32, 22 September 2017 (EDT)

That list is more or less private. Plus, it's temporary. When we only have a few of them left to go, I'll make a list on the wiki proper, but till then, we'll use the document just to get a running start. — {EspyoT} 11:12, 22 September 2017 (EDT)

Pikmin 3 beta elements[edit]

Yes, I saw. I didn't reply with anything because I never got around to investigating that. It will be added when more information is known. — {EspyoT} 09:13, 26 September 2016 (EDT)

Names in other languages[edit]

Hello, should the Names in other languages be in its own section down at the bottom of the page or should they be a subsection to Naming? I'm wondering because I've seen both. --Raltseye (talk) 10:19, 26 October 2016 (EDT)

Hi. It should be a sub-section inside the naming section. I'm currently in the middle of cleaning up all naming sections, and I haven't gotten to that part yet. Rest assured, I'll take care of it in the following days. Sorry for the confusion! Also, our policies and guidelines sometimes explain how we should try to organize pages, so you can check there if you're ever curious. — {EspyoT} 10:37, 26 October 2016 (EDT)

Piklopedia Deaths[edit]

Sorry for the confusion. I actually posted another message on Talk:Piklopedia (Pikmin 2) earlier. For the Hermit Crawmad, the glitch I was referring to was the glitch that kills a small Hermit Crawmad when you walk into it while it is petrified. My thoughts when testing this were: "If the glitch works for leaders and Pikmin, then it should probably work for Pikpik Carrots too, since they do count as Pikmin. There isn't any reason for the glitch not to work in the Piklopedia." Mariotime315 Let's-a go! Artwork of a Purple Pikmin. 16:42, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Duplicates?[edit]

Are there any differences detween these two that I don't see? Otherwise they're duplicates and one of them should be deleted.

The first one was created on purpose to show off the Koppaite text that appears if you have the Tropical Wilds. The second one just seems like a generic "full map" screenshot. I guess the second one can be deleted. — {EspyoT} 18:40, 12 November 2016 (EST)

Problem with the notes[edit]

Thanks!

I'll come up with a richer system for the notes later today. Hopefully that'll be enough. You can leave the page as it is, and it'll work when I set this up. — {EspyoT} 11:44, 29 December 2016 (EST)
Okay. Thanks. Marty (talk) 11:47, 29 December 2016 (EST)

a couple of things[edit]

First off I was wondering if any info on that "mimic bud" I talked about awhile ago was uncovered, according to the video description it's internal name is "NamaPongashi" if that helps any, and also out of curiousity, your name wouldn't happen to be based on a certain pink ninja chamelian would it?Pikmin Theories (talk) 21:04, 8 February 2017 (EST)

I haven't taken a look yet. — {EspyoT} 03:59, 9 February 2017 (EST)

I haven't. I don't usually read fanfics. — {EspyoT} 10:01, 9 February 2017 (EST)

Maybe when the Pikmin goes in, the game first kills the original Pikmin that got inserted, and then checks the Candypop's data to see what new Pikmin to spit out. If it has this data, it spits out a brand new Pikmin of the right type. If it doesn't have the data, it just doesn't do anything. — {EspyoT} 13:56, 25 May 2017 (EDT)

Template:Foreignname[edit]

Hello! Just wanted to ask if I could add Polish to this template since Captain Olimar has been called Kapitan Olimar in a facebook post? Also I want to ask if its okay if I rearrange the order if the names in alphabetical order. --Raltseye (talk) 14:56, 5 June 2017 (EDT)

Hey! This is the official Nintendo of Poland page, is it? I think that's fair. Feel free to edit it, but I think changing it to alphabetical order might not be a good idea. Having it ordered from the most "canon", most English language, to the least canon or popular one might make more sense, for reader convenience, for instance. This'll have to be a decision that needs to be discussed later, I'd say. — {EspyoT} 19:14, 5 June 2017 (EDT)
Fair enough! Where in the list should Polish be then? --Raltseye (talk) 19:19, 5 June 2017 (EDT)
I think at the end would make sense. At least for now. — {EspyoT} 14:02, 6 June 2017 (EDT)
I put it after Russian but before Arabic. --Raltseye (talk) 14:13, 6 June 2017 (EDT)
Sounds good! — {EspyoT} 15:07, 6 June 2017 (EDT)

(reset indent)Hello! I was wondering if I can rearrange the languages in the following order:
Dutch
French
German
Italian
Spanish
Polish
Portuguese
Russian
This is an order that has been implemented on Inkipedia and ARMS Institute and follows the order; the first five is be the languages that the games are in and then the rest, all in alphabetical order. --Raltseye (talk) 08:41, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

I talked to the other admins, and we all agree that order will work well. Except, of course, Japanese should be the very first one. Feel free to change it, then! — {EspyoT} 09:04, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
But of course. It's done now. Thanks! --Raltseye (talk) 13:17, 24 June 2017 (EDT)

Names in other languages[edit]

Hello there! Note that I have compiled the names for the treasures found in the demo and other stuff on my userpage. You are very much free to use them. --Raltseye (talk) 20:05, 1 August 2017 (EDT)

All right. I'll be busy doing other things, so if you want to get a head start and write them on the articles, feel free. — {EspyoT} 03:56, 2 August 2017 (EDT)
Only one of the articles have been made and that name has been added. Just wanted to let you know so that when you or anyone else creates those articles they can just move the names from my userpage. Or I can just do in afterwards. --Raltseye (talk) 04:18, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

Can you delete my old userpage?[edit]

Hey, this is IAMAHIPO_ocolor- I'm worried about people searching for that name if anybody found it who I know in real life and finding my old user page which is just the cringiest thinf I've ever read. I tried to reset my password, but used the wrong email so at the very least I need to wait 24 hours. Could you wipe my userpage (and if possible, all instances of iamahipo_ocolor so that google doesn't cache it? I know there are probably a lot of embarassing comments on other's talk pages...) Forgotpassword hipo (talk) 00:09, 5 October 2017 (EDT)

I can wipe your userpage, though it will still show up in the page's history. I can't do anything about your messages, since, for one thing, removing them would disrupt the conversations, and secondly, there's a ton of them. Do you want to take your chances with the password recovery, do you want me to wipe just your page, or do nothing? You could also just own up to it... I mean, we all did cringy stuff as kids. — {EspyoT} 07:58, 5 October 2017 (EDT)

Obstacles in Pikmin 3[edit]

Hello. I've seen that there are numbers of obstacles listed in Pikmin 3 Mission Mode and Bingo Battle, but not in Story Mode. The obstacles are shown in Story Mode, but not the amounts. Should they be added to "Objects" in the Pikmin 3 areas? Signed, If so, I could easily add the number of obstacles. --Ben (talk).

Hey. Yeah, ideally, all articles should have all of the obstacles and their amounts. As for what objects should be in what sections, we have a guideline for this here, though not all articles are following it. — {EspyoT} 19:40, 14 September 2018 (EDT)
Which articles are not following it? --Ben (talk)
I don't know off the top of my head. Could be any article from the Pikmin areas, Pikmin 2 areas, Pikmin 3 areas, Pikmin 2 caves, Pikmin 2 Challenge Mode levels, Bingo Battle levels, Pikmin 3 Missions, or Pikmin 3 Bingo Battle stages. — {EspyoT} 08:55, 16 September 2018 (EDT)

Also, what do you use to take pictures on Wii U? I want to take pictures of Pikmin 3 to upload here, but don't have anything to take them with. --Ben (talk).

You can find a tutorial here. Since Miiverse has been discontinued, you'll have to use method #2. — {EspyoT} 07:45, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

To be deleted[edit]

Hi, i'm from DK Wiki/Super Mario Wiki. I plan to continue editing after cross wiki editing even though I'm not a huge expert on Pikmin. Anyway, just wanted to let you know there's files in this category that can be deleted. Results May Vary (talk) 13:34, 23 September 2018 (EDT)

Hey, nice to have you around. Sure thing, I'll take a look and delete them when I'm next available. — {EspyoT} 14:06, 23 September 2018 (EDT)

For me, that's more good news than bad :D It means more can get done at once. — {EspyoT} 04:05, 24 September 2018 (EDT)

Time[edit]

Is the time of an edit set to a certain time zone? For me, it's 9:52 PM, October 12, and I made an edit a few minutes ago. But the contribs said that I made the edit on October 13, but it's definitely October 12 for me. It doesn't really matter, I just want to know. Yellow PikminBT

Ah, it most likely is. Go to your user settings (same place where you change the signature), but go in the Appearance tab. There, you'll find the timezone option. Just change it to your preferred timezone, and it should show the edit times right for you. Also, unrelated, but check out the signature comment I made on your talk page. — {EspyoT} 07:48, 13 October 2018 (EDT)

Amiibo images[edit]

I've seen that you uploaded images of amiibo in Hey! Pikmin and I'm currently adding them in the amiibo pages. However, I wanted to ask if it's possible to focus only on the amiibo, and remove the things around them, such as the navigation tabs for the treasures, enemies, or the camera icon, for example. If you don't see what I mean, just look at the pictures I've made in the Oversized Replica and Exhausted Soldier pages. It's not important, but I want to know. Hugik (talk) 15:09, 17 October 2018 (EDT)

I think we should have both. Keep the unchanged screenshots somewhere in the gallery, and when it comes to images for the infoboxes at the top of pages, we should use cropped images. You don't need to worry about taking photos of them because I'm working on getting the treasures and enemies in an emulator. Once I do, I'll be able to take high-quality screenshots of them all. — {EspyoT} 16:04, 17 October 2018 (EDT)
OK, I'll put the unchanged images in the gallery section of each page. Thank you ! Hugik (talk) 12:18, 18 October 2018 (EDT)

New article[edit]

Should there be a new article called Out of Bounds? I have discovered at least 7 places (In Pikmin 3) where it is possible to get out of bounds. If so, the article could have all the possible places to get out of bounds. Also, is there any way that I can make a new page for me, to add things like my signature? Yellow PikminBT 10:52, 28 October 2018 (EDT)

Hm, that sounds like a good idea, actually! — {EspyoT} 10:57, 28 October 2018 (EDT)

Plot sections[edit]

I've noticed that for each area of Hey! Pikmin, there is a plot section. However, I was wondering if those parts are needed in all pages, because a lot of areas don't have any importance to the plot of the game. So, should we remove those sections in the pages where they're useless or should we keep them ? Hugik (talk) 08:09, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

Those sections were added automatically with the blank skeleton for Hey! Pikmin area pages. If an area has plot relevancy, like First Expedition, then sure, we keep it. Otherwise, the section is meant to be deleted. — {EspyoT} 10:13, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
Ok, nice then ! I'll deal with those sections as soon as possible ! Hugik (talk) 10:32, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
Also, completely unrelated : I made a custom signature, however I don't know how to make it appear. I looked in the FAQ, and I searched for the "Nickname" field, but I didn't find it, so I'm a little lost... Hugik (talk) 10:43, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
It should look like this with the "new signature" field filled in with your code. https://imgur.com/gallery/AnXlzFg And you should get a preview of it were my signature is. --Raltseye prata med mej 10:52, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

Undiscovered glitch?[edit]

Thanks! V64 (talk) 22:24, 28 December 2018 (EST) V64 (talk) 22:24, 28 December 2018 (EST)

Hey there! Yeah, that does sound odd. Since you have the Wii remake, can you go back to the same day and try to recreate what you did? If you can replicate it, we might be on to something. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened... — {EspyoT} 07:32, 29 December 2018 (EST)
Okay, I tried it, and I got an interesting result. The Pikmin made it back to the ship without delay OR any walls being destroyed in the process. So, when the Pikmin were confused for the minute I watched them a glitch, or do I just have dumb Pikmin?

Thanks again, V64 (talk) 21:34, 30 December 2018 (EST) V64 (talk) 21:34, 30 December 2018 (EST)

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that if the game is a bit overloaded, it keeps the Pikmin in a "stuck" state for a couple of seconds while it tries to figure out what path they should take. I have vague memories of seeing this one day, I think. Even though it sounds unlikely, I suppose that's the most reasonable explanation so far. — {EspyoT} 07:58, 31 December 2018 (EST)

Annoying IP account[edit]

Hi there, I'm sending a message here because I can't do anything. I just want to alert you that there's a person who's messing with some pages on the wiki, in case you didn't see it. I've tried to revert the changes on two pages, but the IP account stroke on those pages again (which is normal, I guess). I'm Hugik, big fan of Pikmin (and Super Smash Bros.). Talk ? 12:34, 10 January 2019 (EST)

Hey, thanks for letting me now, and thanks for the help. It's all taken care of, now. — {EspyoT} 16:59, 10 January 2019 (EST)

Pellet posies[edit]

Hey Espyo! I (finally) beat Pikmin! But while watching the enemy reel, I noticed that the pellet poise was considered an enemy. I checked the enemy list on the wiki, and pellet poise wasn’t on it. Should it be added, or be left out?

Thanks again, V64 (talk) 14:36, 1 February 2019 (EST) V64 (talk) 14:36, 1 February 2019 (EST)

Hey. Well, it's not really an enemy. It's included in the enemy reel and in Pikmin 2's Piklopedia just so that the player can get an entry with info on them, but they aren't practically enemies. Readers of the wiki probably don't expect to find them in lists of enemies either. — {EspyoT} 15:52, 1 February 2019 (EST)

Unregistered users[edit]

I've noticed that some of the inactive users are not a "registered user". What does a registered user exactly mean, and why are some users not registered? --Ben (talk) 11:57, 7 February 2019 (EST)

Sorry, I don't get what you mean. A registered user is any user that has created an account. A person doesn't need an account to edit the wiki, but having one makes it so they use the nickname they want, instead of the edit being tied to their computer's IP address. — {EspyoT} 17:39, 7 February 2019 (EST)
It sounds like you're talking about edits which have been imported to the wiki from users who never made an account here. --Porplemontage (talk) 17:45, 7 February 2019 (EST)
Ah, that's right! Back when we moved from the wikia, we imported the changes made by other users, so that their contributions are kept, and their changes receive proper credit. Most of those users never made an account on Pikipedia, despite having it on the wikia. Their user pages also got imported to Pikipedia, but the users themselves do not have an account here. That's why you can see their credits in page histories, as well as their user pages, but get the warning that they are not actually here. They were simply imported. — {EspyoT} 17:49, 7 February 2019 (EST)

Inappropriate user[edit]

Hello I was going through the recent changes when I saw one that was highly inappropriate. Also, they’re an anonymous user. Thanks again, V64 (talk) V64 (talk) 14:55, 12 February 2019 (EST)

Thanks for the heads-up. I've taken care of it. — {EspyoT} 15:06, 12 February 2019 (EST)

Welcome to new users[edit]

If I welcome a new user to Pikipedia, should I mark the user talk page as "watch this page"? --Ben (talk) 10:09, April 14, 2019 (EDT)

Not really. The "Watch this page" button just adds the page to your personal watchlist. When a page is in your watchlist, if somebody makes an edit, you will be told about it with an e-mail. If you want to check if a user replies to the welcoming message, you can add it, but you can probably also find a reply simply by checking the recent changes anyway. — {EspyoT} 11:03, April 14, 2019 (EDT)

Major Glitch[edit]

Hi Espyo. I have discovered some odd side effects of the Formidable Oak Backwards glitch. I have made a video showing some of the odd effects. It's a bit low quality because I don't have a capture card yet, but it's still very interesting. Here's the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiePAQeR68s&feature=youtu.be

--Ben (talk) 22:45, April 27, 2019 (EDT)

The link you sent me doesn't work. I think other people have made similar videos though, but I'm not sure. — {EspyoT} 12:05, April 28, 2019 (EDT)
I turned it off private; the link should work now. --Ben (talk) 16:44, April 28, 2019 (EDT)

Disappearing Pellet[edit]

Hey I found new glitch in NPC Pikmin to where I can make a pellet disappear! I’m trying to get the video on the wiki, but it won’t register on the upload file page. Is there a different place to upload it? I’ve tried multiple times, so if there isn’t one, what should I do? Thanks again, V64 (talk) 22:14, June 5, 2019 (EDT) V64 (talk) 22:14, June 5, 2019 (EDT)

Hey. Sounds neat! The wiki doesn't really do video uploads (file sizes and codecs are two of the biggest problems), but you can upload it to YouTube and then link it in the wiki. — {EspyoT} 04:14, June 6, 2019 (EDT)

Yeah I’m trying to get it on YouTube but I can’t figure out how to make an account. I’ve googled how but to no avail. Is there another way to get this to work? V64 (talk) 16:12, June 6, 2019 (EDT)

Uploading to YouTube is pretty much the only way to share video reliably these days... Making an account should be simple, though. If you have Twitter, you can also probably upload the video there. — {EspyoT} 18:35, June 6, 2019 (EDT)

Okay, I’ve tried everything. It’s just not working for some reason or another. But I did notice on your user page that you have an account already, so what if I emailed you the video and you post it on your channel? Would that work? (Sorry if this seems like a lot of trouble) Thanks again, The preceding unsigned comment was added by Voldemort64 • (talk) • (contribs)

If you can e-mail it successfully, sure, I think that would work out. — {EspyoT} 04:00, June 7, 2019 (EDT)

All right, it’s sent. Check it out! V64 (talk)

Oh wait never mind I got the channel to work. Here’s the link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3Lea0P2GK9E&list=LLmUdXtdTSKGpOZbLVamxMFQ&index=2&t=0s

Hm, I could swear I've seen that glitch be used somewhere. But since I've got nothing, might as well add it to the glitches article as it is. Go for it! — {EspyoT} 11:25, June 8, 2019 (EDT)

Believe it or not...[edit]

Ok, call me crazy, but I’ve found ANOTHER glitch in NPC PIKMIN. Nothing really interesting happens until 4:00 in the video, but feel free to watch the whole thing! Here’s the link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eb9FQug1uxM

Oh wow, that's amazing! Wanna add it to the glitches article, or shall I? — {EspyoT} 16:22, July 12, 2019 (EDT)
You could probably make it faster, and I’ll add in the specific details. Would that work?

Small glitch[edit]

Hi, I've recorded a video some weeks ago about a glitch that happened to me when I was playing Pikmin on Dolphin. I don't know what to do with it (I don't think it needs a whole section in the Glitches article), and I wanted your opinion on this phenomenon. It's just some sliding Nectar in The Forest Navel. It already happened to me in the past (if I remember well), but it's the first time that I could record it. Here's the link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xSqd5hKCBQ I'm Hugik, big fan of Pikmin. Want to talk ? 12:36, July 20, 2019 (EDT)

Hm, well, I don't think it's very notable. A lot of objects slide in this game when the floor is slanted, after all. — {EspyoT} 11:27, July 21, 2019 (EDT)

Capture Card[edit]

What kind of capture card do you use to record footage on Wii U? --Ben (talk) 13:26, August 25, 2019 (EDT)

Oh, I can't capture Wii U footage from the console... Unless you mean those small videos I have, but those were recorded on an emulator. — {EspyoT} 13:36, August 25, 2019 (EDT)

Speed completions[edit]

For the areas in Pikmin 3, would it be a good idea to list speedrunning strategies to the "speed completion" sections of the areas? --Ben (talk) 16:21, September 8, 2019 (EDT)

Yep! That was the idea behind those sections. — {EspyoT} 12:48, September 12, 2019 (EDT)

Is there such a thing...[edit]

I red something on the blue pikmin page, and I was wondering, is there really such a thing as a red and blue pikmin hybrid?Olimar49 (talk) 19:54, October 25, 2019 (EDT)

Of course not. That edited was reverted. — {EspyoT} 08:11, October 26, 2019 (EDT)

Pikmin Adventure Icons[edit]

Is it alright if I upload some custom-made Piklopedia-style icons for most of the enemies from Pikmin Adventure? Just in case they'll ever be used. The only ones I don't have made yet are both of the Wollywog ones because they're too much trouble. – ContributionsCheepy (talk) 21:05, February 26, 2020 (EST)

PA subjects barely get any information on the wiki, and that's on purpose. They're definitely not canon, and are just a small part of a mini-game in a party title, after all. Adding icons means more server storage is used, means more maintenance work, etc. I'd prefer if they didn't get uploaded. — {EspyoT} 04:24, February 27, 2020 (EST)
Okie. – ContributionsCheepy (talk) 16:37, February 28, 2020 (EST)

Template:Heb[edit]

I just created Template:Heb, considering it didn't work the way I planned (it doesn't work in sentances and templates) is it worth keeping? Maybe under another name or something. Or just delete it. --Raltseye prata med mej 12:02, December 13, 2020 (EST)

Didn't this happen before? Anyway, it may be worth checking out how other wikis do it. If you can find a solution, great, but if not, let me know and I'll delete it. — {EspyoT} 13:39, December 15, 2020 (EST)
Hebrew is aligned to the left now, which makes it difficult to copy and handle. With this I don't know if it actualy would look any better but it would at least be easier to copy if it didn't break the rows that is. --Raltseye prata med mej 20:12, December 15, 2020 (EST)
How important is it that the alignment is kept to the left? — {EspyoT} 12:56, December 16, 2020 (EST)

Apology for my edit of Infernal Vegetable[edit]

It was all my fault of editing unnecessary description of Japanese pronunciation. If I may make excuses, that edit was an act according to my conscience.

I apologize you and all editors adding unnecessary description that relates to sensitive area. -PortableSunset (talk) 09:43, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

It's all right, don't worry about it. — {EspyoT} 10:53, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

Category:Map images, Category:Radar patterns, and Category:Maps[edit]

At the moment, Category:Map images, Category:Radar patterns, and Category:Maps are very disorganized categories. From what I can tell, Category:Map images is a very old category for map-type images, Category:Radar patterns is specifically for textures of maps from the radar, and Category:Maps is where Template:File info places images with the type of Map. There's a lot of overlap in what types of images they cover, particularly in the case of Category:Map images and Category:Maps. In order to sort out this mess, I propose that Category:Maps be merged with Category:Map images by editing Template:File info, and all the radar textures in Category:Map images be moved to Category:Radar patterns (over time, as there are several), and all the non-maps in Category:Map images be removed. Perhaps we could have a category specifically for custom-made diagrams as well. Would this be a good idea? — Soprano(talk) 01:33, April 7, 2021 (EDT)

That sounds like a plan to me. In fact, I'm even thinking the following: Category:Radar patterns for game textures that show any sort of map. Category:User-made maps for anything not official. Category:Maps as the parent category of the last two, and also as the house of any other map-related images. — {EspyoT} 14:42, April 9, 2021 (EDT)
While that would involve changing the categorization of 158 files, I think that's a good plan. Perhaps there could also be a "Category:Location maps" for all the maps that show where a single ship part or treasure is on the radar. — Soprano(talk) 17:21, April 9, 2021 (EDT)
Hm, I'm not sure that one would be as useful. Though I guess I'm not opposed. — {EspyoT} 17:26, April 9, 2021 (EDT)
It would reduce the size of the main Maps category by moving many similar images elsewhere – though I guess File info would put everything in the Maps category anyway. — Soprano(talk) 17:30, April 9, 2021 (EDT)
Good point. Though map uploads are so rare that I think we can afford the risk. If not, we can figure something out later. — {EspyoT} 15:55, April 10, 2021 (EDT)
Question: If an image goes in one of the subcategories of Category:Maps, should it also go in Category:Maps itself, or just the subcategory? — Soprano(talk) 19:18, October 8, 2021 (EDT)
Just the sub-category. A page should never be categorized under a category and also one of the parent categories. If it sounds like it should, then maybe the categories themselves are wrong... — {EspyoT} 15:54, October 9, 2021 (EDT)
I ask because Template:File info categorizes all images with the type of "map" into Category:Maps, so we'd need to use the nocat parameter if we just wanted it to be in one of the subcategories. — Soprano(talk) 17:43, October 9, 2021 (EDT)
Hmm, right. I think the template does that for other things too. I honestly can't figure out the best solution right now, so I guess we just let it happen. At least in the future it'll be easy to fix, since one change in the template instantly recategorizes everything. — {EspyoT} 13:17, October 11, 2021 (EDT)

Re: Redirects[edit]

Hi Espyo—sorry about that. On a previous wiki I edited, updating redirect links was something we would try to stay on top of and routinely did, although obviously that was a different wiki, and I probably shouldn't have assumed that the same was done here. Thanks for letting me know. Milkmancer (talk) 13:28, September 17, 2022 (EDT)

Source for Takashi Nagasako voicing Captain Charlie?[edit]

Hey! I was recently browsing the pikipedia and noticed there's a voice actor listed for Charlie. I'd never heard of this before, so I was intrigued! I tried to look for a source in the credits for the game but found nothing. Where did you find this info? Thanks! Mutaharu (talk) 16:23, January 26, 2023 (EST)

Hmm, that's pretty weird. I can't find a source for that either. I'm not sure where I got it from, but I know I wouldn't have just made the name up or anything... — {EspyoT} 07:09, January 27, 2023 (EST)

How to report vandalism[edit]

It is too late at night for me to reliably work out how to make hyperlinks work given my current bout of illness, so forgive the plaintext here, but on the article for " https://www.pikminwiki.com/Glitches_in_Pikmin_3#Hard_to_reproduce ", the link next to the "Hard to reproduce" entry for "By changing from a leader that is in the Sandbelching Meerslug's fight to a leader that is elsewhere just before the boss is defeated, the game may show the defeat cutscene with the camera underground, and may then lock up. " has been edited at some point to link to a clip of an unrelated Joe Rogan podcast. I am uncertain how to revert the page to the relevant prior version, especially since the edit history seems to show a lock was placed on the page just yesterday, presumably due to other vandalism which was caught. Amnesiacjournal (talk) 01:18, February 19, 2023 (EST)

You can just report vandalism to my user talk page like you did here. You can also undo the vandalism and I'll eventually catch it in the recent changes. If it's urgent, you can find me on the Pikcord Discord server. Now, as for that video in particular...looks like that was me :P I remember laughing hard at it back then, so I must've copy-pasted the URL to share with other people, then went to copy-paste the glitch video to put on the wiki but the "copy" part must've failed. Anyway I was able to find the intended video, so I've fixed the page. That said, I can't find any lock on the page whatsoever. — {EspyoT} 10:14, February 19, 2023 (EST)
Ah, gotcha. I read in the page-change history that a lock had been added, but it was an update summary message I didn't want to test in the state I was in, as to avoid gumming up the works. Thank you for the clarification, we've all had clipboard mistakes before. Amnesiacjournal (talk) 15:24, February 19, 2023 (EST)

A question about Pikcross[edit]

I figured since the source code is freely linked in the article itself, it's probably alright, but I wanted to ask just in case there's any problems with attribution or what-have-you. Camwoodstock (talk) 14:46, April 28, 2023 (EDT)

Hey. — {EspyoT} 10:35, April 29, 2023 (EDT)

the Vanilla sees[edit]

Yeah, I can understand that, but having those sections labeled as No would be kinda implying that those abilities aren't in the game which would be misleading. hence why I added links to the relevent articles (which took me awhile to figure out how to do). was kinda meant to be more accurate then possibly implying said abilities debuted in 4 with the upgrade.Pikmin Theories (talk) 20:21, August 21, 2023 (EDT)

Then I'd say that, in the table, the way we describe "same but different-named" abilities, or the way you want to describe "it's a vanilla feature", or both, has to change. Can't quite think of the best way off the top of my head. — {EspyoT} 11:06, August 22, 2023 (EDT)
Only thing I can think of is adding like a cite I think? (little number like a squared) or an asterisc, I think that's what it's called * saying it's a basic feauture in said games. Though I dunno, without reference to what said ability is feels worse somehow..... Pikmin Theories (talk) 23:20, August 27, 2023 (EDT)
We can well document both things in the table. I think the only problem might be to find text that's short enough. "No, but a similar upgrade called X exists" and "No, but the feature exists by default" work to document the table well, but they're both very long. — {EspyoT} 04:03, August 29, 2023 (EDT)

Dunno if it'd be possible or how it'd be done, but what about having the No, but have the No be clickable to link to the proper page/sections? Pikmin Theories (talk) 03:42, November 16, 2023 (EST)

Rename[edit]

Apparently, you can also rename here? I'll suppose its like as in Pikmin Fanon? – Icon for the White Pikmin, from Pikmin 4's Piklopedia. Blower Pot (Talk page | Contributions | Pikmin Fanon)

I don't get what you mean... — {EspyoT} 12:10, March 3, 2024 (EST)
I meant the rename log, so apparently this wiki has a rename thing? I saw there many users on this log, which their user pages were renamed to another title by... You? – Icon for the White Pikmin, from Pikmin 4's Piklopedia. Blower Pot (Talk page | Contributions | Pikmin Fanon)
Yes, users can request to have their username changed, so those logs are probably what you are seeing. — {EspyoT} 17:32, March 3, 2024 (EST)

Yep, that was why I said "I'll suppose its like as in Pikmin Fanon", which I was asking if the way to requestion like from Pikmin Fanon, of requesting on their userpage. If so, then I would choose to me to be renamed to "Blower Pot", following my Pikmin Fanon rename? – Icon for the White Pikmin, from Pikmin 4's Piklopedia. Blower Pot (Talk page | Contributions | Pikmin Fanon)

There you go. — {EspyoT} 16:35, March 4, 2024 (EST)

I'm not sure why that happened. It should be fixed now. — {EspyoT} 05:47, May 8, 2024 (EDT)

Thank you so much for this (talk) 20:16, May 8, 2024 (EDT)

Name Change Request[edit]

Can you please change my name to Captain Puffmin so it is how it is on other sites? TheMarioWikiGuy on pikmin (talk) 18:05, May 14, 2024 (EDT)

Sure thing. Done. — {EspyoT} 04:08, May 15, 2024 (EDT)
