The Seed Hive (タントタネギシリ?, lit.: "Closely Packed Plenty of Seeds") is a fruit in Pikmin 3 and a treasure in Pikmin 4. It is a papaya. In Pikmin 3, it is worth two and a half bottles of juice (one and a quarter in Ultra-Spicy mode), and is only found in the Twilight River. In Pikmin 4, it can be found in the Frozen Inferno and the Giant's Hearth.

Collecting the fruit

A map of the Twilight River as it appears on the mini radar in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. This was made by manually arranging the textures for each section of the area to align with the corresponding radar map.

See also: Scornet Maestro strategy.

The Seed Hive is dropped from the sky upon defeating the Scornet Maestro, for whatever reason. Since Louie and the fruit are the most important objects, send them first before harvesting the Scornet Maestro and the Scornets. If Winged Pikmin are to carry the Seed Hive, make sure the Arachnode near base is taken out, as well as the Flighty Joustmite.

Collecting the treasure

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Frozen Inferno

There is a Seed Hive behind a corner near the center of sublevel 3 of the Frozen Inferno. It is guarded by an Arctic Cannon Larva, which should be defeated before attempting to collect it. To collect this treasure, you must throw 12 Pikmin at it.

Giant's Hearth

See also: Bug-Eyed Crawmad#Strategy.

There is a Seed Hive inside of a Bug-Eyed Crawmad near the central north of the map. To collect this treasure, you must defeat the Bug-Eyed Crawmad, then throw 12 Blue Pikmin at it, or 12 Pikmin if you have already constructed the clay valve and deactivated the sprinkler.

Notes

Brittany's notes

US version US version
This was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for us. We were lured in by the sweet scent, but when we cut it open, it was infested with huge insects! Alph fainted, poor thing. Then I realized that the "insects" were seeds! Yay! Alph will wake up, eventually.
European version European version

Schnauz's notes

There's no other way to say it... The inside of the Seed Hive is quite grotesque. That knot of black orbs in its belly... YUCK! But many seeds means many cultivation opportunities. And there's no reason to turn our noses up at that.

Olimar's notes

I always thought it was better to eat fruit when it's ripe, but this one is just as enjoyable and nutritious when it's green. The same can be said about creatures like us—many think maturity is superior, but inexperience and youth are what provide fresh perspectives.

Louie's notes

Packed with seeds. Don't stare at them for too long, or you might start to feel a bit dizzy.
