Getting it requires many steps. First, defeat all [[Bulbear]]s and [[Puffy Blowhog]]s that will be in the way back to the ship. There are two paths to get to it: either cross the fire [[geyser]]s near the [[Armored Cannon Beetle]] or take the safe route near the landing site by building the [[twig]] and unplugging the geyser. Then defeat the Beetle and retrieve the part. Build the [[bridge]] and destroy the [[gate]] so [[Red Pikmin]] can carry it back to the Dolphin, defeating the [[Shearwig]]s along the way. Alternatively, [[Blue Pikmin]] will take the part on a path with slight shortcuts through the water, thus avoiding any sleeping Bulbears on the way.

The Bowsprit (バウスプリット?, lit.: "Bowsprit") is a ship part in Pikmin and Olimar's Shipwreck Tale in Pikmin 4. It is the "face" of the S.S. Dolphin, designed by Captain Olimar, and gives the Dolphin its sleek shape. In Pikmin, it can be found inside the Armored Cannon Beetle in the central tree stump of The Distant Spring.

Once recovered, it is installed on its rightful place, as the nose of the Dolphin.

Getting it requires many steps. First, defeat all Bulbears and Puffy Blowhogs that will be in the way back to the ship. There are two paths to get to it: either cross the fire geysers near the Armored Cannon Beetle or take the safe route near the landing site by building the twig and unplugging the geyser. Then defeat the Beetle and retrieve the part. Build the bridge and destroy the gate so Pikmin can carry it back to the Dolphin, defeating the Shearwigs along the way. Alternatively, Blue Pikmin will carry the part through a shortcut in the water, thus avoiding the three sleeping Bulbears on the way.

In Pikmin 4

The Bowsprit is located directly east from the Water's Edge landing site in the Serene Shores, near the edge of the map. You will need Moss' swimming ability to reach the part and then 30 Blue Pikmin to carry it. Make sure to defeat the enemies and clear the obstacles that are in the way so the Pikmin can carry it safely back to base.

Notes

Olimar's monologs

I've discovered the Bowsprit!

With this piece installed, my ship should regain some of its sleek shape.

The so-called face of the Dolphin. In point of fact, I designed it.

Trivia

  • The antenna of the Bowsprit is only partially attached when not on the S.S. Dolphin.
  • A bowsprit in real life is a pole that extends forward of a ship from the prow of the vessel.
