The Arachnorb family is the species of enemies in the Pikmin games that look like giant spider-like creatures. The most famous member of the species is the Beady Long Legs, the first member of the family to appear, as an official mini-boss in the first game (With an exclusive background music. [Only in The Forest Navel, excluding in the Challenge Mode stage for the The Final Trial]). The name may be derived from daddy longlegs.
Beady Long Legs
Beady Long Legs is an enemy in the Pikmin games. It first appeared as the mini-boss in Pikmin, and reappears in Pikmin 2 as a far more common boss. The only attack it has is stomping around, but its large feet make this more dangerous than it sounds. Its body is its second weak point, this strategy is easiest with yellow pikmin. The second strategy is to throw purple pikmin at it's feet. It's rumored that if you use purple pikmin to damage it's feet, one of the legs or the entire beast may get stunned. When defeated, it crumbles into dust that goes away after ejecting its belongings from its orbular torso.
It also has sort of a face. It has a tiny mouth with big eyes. (hard to see)It is the only known member of the Arachnorb family with a face.
Raging Long Legs
Raging Long Legs is a boss in Pikmin 2. It has a resemblance to the Beady Long Legs in overall body structure, but has bigger, hairier feet, bigger body(to the point where any Pikmin can reach it), is shiny black with purple bands, and moves more slowly. If you deal enough damage to it though that it becomes agitated, it shakes your Pikmin off and starts stomping madly. This is dangerous since its feet are very large. Its body is so large, however, that any kind of Pikmin can be thrown without waiting, and dodging it should be a rather trivial thing, so it isn't hard as long as you call your Pikmin back before it rages. It dies in the same manner as the Beady Long Legs; ejects its possesions from its body and its composure crumbles into dust. If this creature does not have any teasure to drop, it will instead drop 30 Mitites.
Man-at-Legs
The Man-at-legs is a member of the Arachnorb family, and first appeared as a boss in Pikmin 2. Unlike the two other Arachnorbs, it is a biomechanical creature and has very spindly feet, which don't squish your pikmin, making its battle strategy different. It moves around quickly, and stops only to use its blaster-like weapon to attack, usually when you have agitated it with attacks. Another great way to defeat them is to take a large mob of Purple Pikmin, and while it lays dormant in the ground, pummel it with all the purples you have by throwing them. It should drop its health to a substantial fraction if you do it correctly. These enemies, thankfully, are usually found in arenas that have raised ground that can be used as shields against the blasts. When it dies, it explodes; quite different from its relatives. As a side note, this enemy cannot be petrified while it is dormant.
