The Stellar Extrusion (ダンメンホシニタリ) is a starfruit found many times throughout Pikmin 3's Story Mode. It is cut in 2 halves and each half gives one cup of juice, giving a total of 2 cups. A single half of the fruit can be found in Mission Mode's Clockwork Chasm, making it the only incomplete fruit found in the game.

How to Obtain

There are 3 Stellar Extrusions in Pikmin 3's Story: in the Tropical Wilds, Garden of Hope, and Distant Tundra.

Tropical Wilds

The Stellar Extrusion hanging from a tree branch.

The Stellar Extrusion in the Tropical Wilds is found hanging from a high branch above the Seesaw Blocks. To get to it, have one captain stay on a Seesaw Block, then throw 10 Yellow Pikmin up onto the Bouncy Mushroom. Switch to the captain that was on the Seesaw Block and proceed to go to the Yellows. Carefully guide them up the nearby root until they reach the top of the tree stump. From there, scan the fruit and throw the 10 Yellows on the fruit. It should fall down and break in half upon impact. It is best to bring more than 10 Pikmin along, in the event that a few don't grab onto the fruit.

Using the camera angle and Winged Pikmin, it is possible to avoid all this. Simply find a place where the Stellar Extrusion is in the view of the camera. Without turning around, move the pointer to the fruit, scan it and quickly order the winged Pikmin to charge. It must be done quickly, as the game will quickly cancel the scan, as the distance away from the fruit is too large for the scan to normally work.

Garden of Hope

The Stellar Extrusion in the Garden of Hope is dropped by a Bug-Eyed Crawmad. This Bug-Eyed Crawmad is found in a cave past the area with the Fiery Blowhogs and an electric gate. Another entrance is past another electric gate and some Skutterchucks. Simply defeat the creature to retrieve the fruit.

Distant Tundra

The Stellar Extrusion in the Distant Tundra is dropped by a Shaggy Long Legs. This Shaggy Long Legs can be accessed once Alph and Brittany reunite, as the entrance to its arena is past a ledge in the cave where the yellow Onion was discovered. Another entrance to it's arena is found past the small pond with Skeeterskates and Water Dumples and a Bamboo Gate. Using a glitch, it can be accessed even earlier, and without any time limit, as shown in this video. {{#ev:youtube|y46FWav5TQY|200}}

Notes

Brittany's American Notes

"I must admit, when I saw this fruit's starlike shape, it seemed like destiny: Three explorers going to the stars to find fruit and coming back with fruit that looks like stars! What could be more fitting? Then I tasted it and it was only OK. Kinda sour. Bummer."

Brittany's European Notes

"It was as if the stars had aligned: three explorers embark on a voyage to the stars in search of edible matter, and what do they find? Edible matter in the form of a star! I was so excited - and sure it would be delicious. Then I tasted it and found it was just sort of...sour."
