A Communicator is a device very similar to a Wii U Gamepad. It is seen in a screenshot released on March 6th, 2013. Character A uses it to communicated with Character B using a video (and presumably an audio) feed. Not much is known about this device. It's a possibility that this picture, featuring the communicator, could be a part of a cutscene, describing the plot of Pikmin 3.
