Rock Pikmin are a new species of Pikmin featured in Pikmin 3. They are slow and simply appear to be rocks with pikmin's eyes, limbs, and violet flowers, just like the Pink Pikmin.

Abilities

Rock Pikmin can survive ice hazards and attacks, and attack enemies with such abilities. Their hard form also allows them to be thrown at and break glass and ice barriers.

They appear to be able to carry the same normal capacity as any other Pikmin. Despite their strength, they have a setback; Rock Pikmin cannot latch onto their targets. Instead, they will repeatedly attack enemies by charging headlong into them.[1]

Obtaining Rock Pikmin

So far, the only known way to obtain rock Pikmin is to have a Medusal Slurker suck up normal Pikmin into it's body, which will turn them into Rock Pikmin. Then, you must defeat the Slurker to get the Pikmin back. Being rock-like in nature, it is unlikely there will be a rock Candypop Bud. [2]
