The '''Whimsical Radar''' ({{j|きまぐれなレーダー|Kimagure Na Rēdā|Whimsical Radar}}) is one of the [[ship part]]s found in {{p1}}. It is the only part that has another function besides helping the [[S.S. Dolphin]] run, as it allows the player to view a [[Radar|map]] of the current area to pinpoint [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] and other missing parts. When the part is recollected, the ship part is installed at the back of the S.S. Dolphin. This is the only ship part whose collection makes the [[camera]] move during the [[cutscene]] to show its installation.

The Whimsical Radar appears as a ship part in [[Olimar's Shipwreck Tale]] in {{p4}}. It is found in the [[Sun-Speckled Terrace]]. The radar map is available from the start of Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, so the Whimsical Radar has no special function in the mode. In other games in the ''Pikmin'' series, the map is likewise available from the start or accessed through means other than recovering a ship part.

This part is to the north of where the Yellow Onion is first found, past a [[Gate|stone gate]]. It is resting on a ledge that any Pikmin can reach. Destroy the gate using the nearby [[Bomb rock|bomb-rocks]], then defeat the [[Dwarf Bulborb]]s and [[Bulborb|Spotty Bulborb]]. Its sonar can be heard ringing as Olimar approaches it, so it is very easy to find. The [[Male Sheargrub|Male]] and [[Female Sheargrub]]s nearby may pose a threat, so you might want to take them out.

You can also opt out of using more bomb rocks by going around behind your base into the area with the sheargrubs. After killing all harmful enemies, you can throw Pikmin onto the ledge and allow them to carry the Whimsical Radar back safely.

The Whimsical Radar is in the area's northeastern corner. Beware of an [[Armored Cannon Larva]] that is continuously launching rocks down the slope. Once at the top, kill the Larva lest it may harm Pikmin as they carry the part back. Alternatively or as a [[speedrun]]ning strategy, you may leave the enemy alive and use Olimar or [[Moss]] to distract it from said Pikmin.
