In pikmin 1 and 2 it takes 2 minutes to mature one stage and then another two minutes to mature to its last stage of maturity taking 4 minutes to grow from leaf to flower in total

:I seriously can't tell what the criteria for maturation is. For instance, all the Pikmin with you go from leaf to bud when you get the Rock Pikmin in 3-A, no combat involved.
