This is likely a mistake, as two species cannot have the same species name, even if they have a different genus."

This is just plain wrong; two species with the same species name in different genera is VERY common in taxonomy. Just look at how many species have the specific epithet gracilis, for example.

You're right that there's a lot of slightly-incorrect taxonomy on the wiki. A few years ago someone noted in a lot of articles that species in different families cannot share a genus, which is technically correct as you say (as long as the species are in different kingdoms), but it's usually presented in a misleading way. And this example you've found is definitely wrong and was probably the editor making a mistake. Since you seem to know what you're talking about with taxonomy, you should consider fixing more of these errors and misleading statements (but only if you want to), since none of the other editors are quite sure on what the rules are. — Soprano_(talk) 16:16, February 19, 2023 (EST)
