Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Wii U and 3DS), also collectively and unoffically referred to as Super Smash Bros. 4 are the 4th games in the Super Smash Bros. series, as both games are essentially the same with some minor differences. Several Pikmin related elements return from Brawl, such as Olimar being a playable character, and the Distant Planet stage being on the 3DS version of the game. At the same time, many new elements from the Pikmin series also make a debut.
[[ | ==Olimar & Pikmin== | ||
Olimar returns as a veteran fighter, retaining much of the moveset he had in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Few details have been announced regarding the changes, but the following are known:
===Confirmed information===
*Pikmin appear to be slightly larger; Olimar's size appears mostly unchanged.
*Hocotate Ship is known to return in Olimar's final smash and as an item.
*Olimar now can only have 3 Pikmin in his possession, possibly due to hardware limitations of the 3DS.
*Olimar's up special, originally Pikmin Chain, has been replaced with two Winged Pikmin.
*Brittany is not a playable character.
*Alph is an alternate costume forOlimar.

Olimar keeps many of his standard moves from the previous game. | From what the screenshots and gameplay show us, Olimar keeps many of his standard moves from the previous game. Thanks to the Super Smash Bros. Direct on Arpil 8th, 2014, we have gotten a little more information.
==== | ====Standard Special move====
Pikmin Pluck: Olimar plucks Pikmin. However, as stated, he can only carry three Pikmin, and to make the Pikmin use more strategy based, the Pikmin come in a set order (Red, Yellow, Blue, White, Purple, repeat).
====Side | ====Side Special move====
Pikmin Throw: Unchanged from Brawl. He throws Pikmin, and the Pikmin, unless Purple, will latch on and attack. Purples knock the victim back.
====Up | ====Up Special move====
Winged Pikmin: Two Winged Pikmin appear and lift Olimar and his Pikmin up. Opposite to his recovery move in Brawl, Pikmin Chain, the more Pikmin he currently has, the worse his recovery is.

Call to Order: Just like in Brawl, all wayward Pikmin are called back. This time, no Super Armor is given to Olimar during the move.

===Alph=== | ===Alph===
Alph was first leaked by a leaker a week prior to the 3DS version's release in Japan. At the time, it was not known if Alph was a new character or an alternate costume.
On September 11, 2014, Sakurai confirmed that Alph was an alternate costume for Olimar. He functions exactly the same as Olimar, even when it comes to the stage introduction and Final Smash. In other words, Alph still enters out of the Hocotate Ship when entering the stage, and still uses the Hocotate Ship for his Final Smash. He, like Olimar, is unable to use Rock Pikmin. Alph also seems to be a bit taller than he was in Pikmin 3.

| |||
The Garden of Hope is a playable stage for the Wii U installment of the series.
The main arena takes place in the second half of the area accessible once Louie runs away with the juice. There are a few changes, however:
*The pieces of land are now connected by a Bridge.
*The Drake is seen in the area with a Burgeoning Spiderwort and a Tin Box in the real game.
*The cup, which is constucted out of Fragments, is now on land.
*There are Elevator Platforms on each of the ends of the stage.
*There is a Climbing Stick on the right half of the stage that you can stand on.
*There is a Tin Can in place of the Bamboo Gate.
*Most significantly, the other part of the area is no longer there. Instead, there is a massive waterfall.
At this time, there appears to be no stage hazards that inflict damage upon a player

| |||
The Distant Planet stage is present as a Brawl Stage in the 3DS Version. As a whole, not much has changed from Brawl, aside from some minor changes in the background. Just like in Brawl, the stage seems based off of The Forest of Hope and the Awakening Wood.
The | The Final Destination form of this stage takes away all the vegetation and leaves a simple dirt platform to fight on. The Final Destination form also provides a better view of the background.

[[File: | | ||
The Hocotate Bomb is a new item in both versions of the game. On Miiverse and the Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U official website, Sakurai posted an image of Sonic and Olimar next to a small model of the Hocotate Ship, in which he stated that it is a new bomb item that, when triggered, flies up in the air, then crashes back down much like the Warp Star item. However, it should be noted that the bomb will crash down abruptly, giving no indication of when it will drop. The explosion it causes is quite big, and could result in a KO if it hits an opponent. The Hocotate Ship is still used for Olimar's Final Smash, End of Day. Oddly enough, the trophy for the Hocotate Ship actually describes this item.

On a post revealed by Sakurai on Miiverse, the Iridescent Glint Beetle will appear as an enemy in Smash Run for Super Smash Brothers for 3DS. Based on the post, it seems like hitting the creature will result an it popping out items, similar to the actual creature. It seems like if the player hits it more, it will drop better items (again, like in the actual Pikmin Series).

|- | |- | ||
| | ! Name !! Picture !! Description | ||
|- | |||
| Olimar || || "A veteran spaceship pilot for Hocotate Freight, Captain Olimar parters with Pikmin in Smash Bros. to help him battle. Olimar is much stronger when he's got Pikmin with him, so keep them plucked and good to go. Pikmin abilities are based on their color —learn what each is best at!" | |||
|- | |||
| Olimar <br> (All-Star) || || "Pikmin aren't just good for attacking, you know. For example, when you throw them, they can pick up items on their way back. Only items that aren't very heavy, though! Also, if there's someone charging or shooting at you, a well-timed Pikmin throw can stop them in their tracks!" | |||
|- | |||
| Alph || || "Alph is a young explorer who crashed on the planet PNF-404. As the engineer of the S.S. Drake, he feels responsible for finding the missing crew and the ship after the crash. Waking up in a pond, Alph quickly encounters a tiny creature— it's a Pikmin!" | |||
|- | |||
| Louie || || "Louie worked for Hocotate Freight in Pikmin 2. His appetite has gone into overdrive in Pikmin 3. Rescued from a swarm of Scornets by Alph and crew, Louie thanked them the next day by stealing all of the food they'd collected. Maybe he should work on his manners more than getting a meal..." | |||
|- | |||
| Hocotate Ship || || "With the outward appearance of a Hocotate Freight ship, this is actually a bomb in disguise! Arm it by throwing it on the ground, and give it a nudge if you're impatient. It'll fly up into the sky, returning a short time later and exploding. Force your foes into the landing zone!" | |||
|- | |||
| Red Pikmin || || "This Pikmin has a red body and a long, pointy nose. It was the first type of Pikmin Olimar ever met. In Smash Bros., they have the second highest attack power among the Pikmin. Like their fiery color suggests, they can attack with flames and withstand them." | |||
|- | |||
| Yellow Pikmin || || "This yellow Pikmin is sporting some pointy things on its head. Maybe those are ears? Hmm... Anyway, yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity and are the lightest Pikmin in the Pikmin series. In Smash Bros., a thrown yellow Pikmin will fly through the air in a nice curve, zapping anyone it comes in contact with." | |||
|- | |||
| Blue Pikmin || || "This blue Pikmin walks around with its mouth ajar. At home in the water, they're very helpful when objects are submerged and need retrieving. In Smash Bros., blue Pikmin have defense second only to purple Pikmin. They are also able to do more damage when thrown, so don't be shy about hurling them at foes." | |||
|- | |- | ||
| | | White Pikmin || || "These tiny, white Pikmin have bright-red eyes. They are the fastest of the Pikmin, perfect for finding and retrieving hidden treasure. In Smash Bros., you can use them to poison your enemies. Since they can fly the farthest of any Pikmin when thrown, use them to poison enemies from afar." | ||
|- | |- | ||
| | | Purple Pikmin || || "These purple Pikmin are the strongest, but they're also slower and heavier. In Pikmin, they can be thrown at animals to stun them! In Smash Bros., they're great for attacking and launching, but they've got a pretty short reach. Get close to your foe to make these little ones truly effective!" | ||
|- | |- | ||
| | | Rock Pikmin || || "These Pikmin are made of solid rock, so they can stand up to a lot of attacks and won't get hurt when they get stepped on. They specialize in body blows, dealing a lot of damage when thrown, and they can also break right through glass and crystal. They can't latch on to other creatures, though. But that's OK—nobody's perfect!" | ||
|- | |- | ||
| | | Winged Pikmin || || "These pink Pikmin have big, blue eyes and nice wings to help them fly. In Smash Bros., they show up to carry Olimar and friends through the air. However, how high and far they can fly is affected by how many friends they have to carry. More Pikmin will weigh them down." | ||
|- | |- | ||
| | | Bulborb || || "These creatures from the Pikmin series have snail-like protruding eyes, huge mouths, and really bad tempers. They're known for snapping at fighters and trying to trample them underfoot. If you see one in a group of enemies, you should try to take it out fast—it'll shoot off and bounce around, hitting other enemies as it goes!" | ||
|- | |- | ||
| | | Iridescent Glint Beetle || || "Hope you're not scared of bugs... In Pikmin, these guys drop nectar, but in Smash Run they drop coins instead. They hide, waiting for fighters to get too close...then strike! They're tough to catch, but your reward for success is coins, coins, coins. They'll slink away to sulk after being properly robbed." | ||
|- | |||
| Pellets || || "A crystallized nectar that contains the essence of the Pikmin's home world, these pellets are most often harvested from the plant life of the planet. Each pellet displays a number on its surface, and this number may increase over time. The Onion generates more Pikmin with bigger numbers." | |||

So far, Brittany is the only revealed trophy from the Pikmin series for the Wii U version.
