Hocotate may be very close to its local star, making a year very short in comparison to Earth, and thus subdivisions like months (and therefore monthly pay) also more feasible in terms of earnings. This all points more towards the idea that the treasure found on PNF-404 is an Alexandrian solution to the problem of Hocotate Freight's debt, rather than any commentary of comparative wealth.
Rather humorously, it may be considered an aside as to how undervalued the labor that Olimar provides actually is. Given the dilapidated appearance of Hocotate Freight, the poor ostensible value of the company's location, and the state of their fleet; it may be that Hocotate Freight simply does not pay their workers satisfactory wages.
