'''Poison''' is a [[hazard]], present in {{p2}}, {{p4}}, and {{hp}}. It takes the form of a gas, colored reddish-purple in ''Pikmin 2'' and ''Hey! Pikmin'' and turquoise in ''Pikmin 4'', and is fatal to [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] that are not [[White Pikmin]], [[Bulbmin]], or [[Glow Pikmin]] &ndash; they will begin choking if the top of their stem is covered in poison gas. Choking Pikmin will run around in a [[panic]] and, if not saved, will eventually succumb and die. These Pikmin can be rescued by being [[whistle]]d.

Poison gas is completely harmless to [[leader]]s, presumably because their [[spacesuit]]s filter the air. However, the poison emitted by the [[Comedy Bomb]] the [[Titan Dweevil]] wields can damage and knock leaders down, and [[Oatchi]] is affected by poison the same way as most Pikmin are if the {{oatchi|Sniff Saver}} has not been acquired.

Poison is less prevalent and a bit different in ''Hey! Pikmin''. It only appears in the final [[sector]]s, the [[Lushlife Murk]] and [[The Final Stretch]], and mostly takes on the form of purple poisonous lakes and attacks from [[Berserk Leech Hydroe|the final boss]]. Any Pikmin that falls in, or even Olimar himself, will instantly die. Poison geysers also appear exclusively in the [[Burning Bog]], and they also kill Pikmin immediately, despite only harming Olimar. Since there are no White Pikmin in this game, poison must be avoided with careful movements and timing.

It is worth noting that the attacks of certain enemies (particularly the [[Groovy Long Legs]], [[Puffstool]], [[Ancient Sirehound]], [[Smoky Progg]], [[Sputtlefish]], [[Toady Bloyster]], and [[Vehemoth Phosbat]]) are often mistakenly referred to as poisonous due to their gas-like appearance, but these are in fact different hazards ([[confusion]], [[Gloom]], and [[panic]]) which White Pikmin have no immunity against.
