'''''Pikmin 1''''' is a port of the original ''[[Pikmin (game)|Pikmin]]'' to the [[Nintendo Switch]]. It was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation on {{date|21|June|2023}}, alongside [[Pikmin 2 (Nintendo Switch)|a port of ''Pikmin 2'']]. Both were released on the eShop immediately after the presentation concluded. This port is based on {{npcp1}}.

A bundle of this game and the ''Pikmin 2'' Switch port was also released as ''[[Pikmin 1+2]]''. This bundle received a physical release in North America, Europe, and Japan on {{date|22|September|2023}}.

== Changes ==
This port is built off of the US version of ''[[New Play Control! Pikmin]]'', meaning that unless stated otherwise, all changes from that version also apply to this game. On top of that and the changes common to both this game and {{p2s}}, which are listed [[Pikmin 1+2#Common changes|here]], the following additional changes exist.

=== Gameplay ===
* The infamous [[Glitches in Pikmin#Crushing glitch|crushing glitch]] is now less common.
* The [[Secret Safe]] now requires 40 Pikmin to lift in all versions, not just in international regions.

=== Graphics ===
* The majority of the UI elements and a few environmental textures have been upscaled, using a combination of reused original high quality artwork, creating new high quality art, and upscales of the original textures.
* The [[Emperor Bulblax]] now displays a shadow in all regions (beginning with version 1.1.0).

=== Text ===
* The copyright on the title screen has been changed to "© Nintendo".

=== Audio ===
*A few sounds play differently, such as the Onion ejecting seeds.
* Some [[music]] instruments are slightly out of tune. 
* Since the [[attract mode]] cutscenes have been removed, Japanese players can also no longer hear ''[[Ai no Uta]]''.

=== Other ===
* The logo on the game's box art has been updated to resemble the modern [[Pikmin series|''Pikmin'' series]] logo, along with it now being known as ''Pikmin 1''.
* The [[enemy reel]] has received several changes:
** All of the gameplay has been re-recorded, now being more accurate to the game's actual gameplay.
** A different font is used, and all of the text is center-aligned.
** In the European version, The wollyhop is known as such on the enemy reel.
** The text fades in, rather than getting "written" in like the original.

** The [[Swooping Snitchbug]] is placed correctly in the reel's alphabetical order.
** In the US version, the [[Wogpole]], [[Wollywog]], and [[Yellow Wollywog]] are renamed to Wolpole, Wollyhop, and Yellow Wollyhop respectively.
** Instead of a dark filter closing in around a creature to highlight it, a smear effect is instantly placed.
*"THE END" screen at the end of the credits uses different renders of Captain Olimar and the Pikmin.
* Despite the game being based off of the ''New Play Control!'' version, the GameCube cursor is used.
* When Olimar takes damage, the screen shakes and turns red briefly.
