{{for|help on file usage and uploading|Help:Files}}
The following is Pikipedia's policy towards files.

==File pages==
Files must have the following data on their page:

===Description===
A description is mandatory. It doesn't have to be very elaborated or long, but it should, at the very least, explain what the file is. It should also link to any relevant articles.

===License===
Each type of file requires a different license template. These can be chosen from the drop-down box at the [[special:upload|upload screen]]. Ideally, the file is always attributed the correct license tag. If the file was uploaded from elsewhere, like a stock image website, credit must be added.

===Categorization===
All files should be under the proper categories. Whenever possible, it should be under the deepest category available.

==User images==
Images are allowed for use by a user on their user page or signature, etc., but this allocation should not be abused. There is an upper limit of '''5 images''', but fewer will be allowed if large images are uploaded. Note that this is not a target: the fewer personal images, the better.

Every personal image must have the ''user image'' template on its page. Include this using ''<nowiki>{{user image}}</nowiki>''.
