| The Phosbat Pod (コカガミのタマゴ) is an egg sac-like structure from which Phosbats spawn. Much like the Phosbats themselves, Phosbat Pods are sensitive to light, and will close up if exposed to it. They do not move, and function more like structures or terrain features than enemies, but they have a Piklopedia entry in p3d. However, they do not appear as an enemy on the radar. They can also be disabled by being attacked by Pikmin until defeated.

| | Phosbat Pods (コカガミのタマゴ) are nest-like structures from which Phosbats spawn. If light from a Glowcap shines on top of one, it closes its opening, preventing it from spawning more Phosbats; it will also stop spawning Phosbats after it has spawned five of them. If a Phosbat Pod doesn't activate before the big light bulb in the Vehemoth Phosbat arena is turned on, it will remain small. It should be noted that attacking a Phosbat Pod will attract the attention of the Vehemoth Phosbat. |
| | |
| | In p3d, this is considered its own creature, and has an entry in the Piklopedia. |

| Phosbat Pods can start either active or dormant, and while active, they will periodically spawn Phosbats. When the main light of the room they are in turns on, or when a nearby Glowcap or light bulb starts emitting light, an active pod will close its opening and will stop spawning more Phosbats; dormant pods will remain dormant.
| |
|
| |
| Pods spawn a new Phosbat every ten seconds. Any given pod can spawn up to five Phosbats, and once it has done so, it will stop spawning more. Any time one of the Phosbats from that pod is killed, it will spawn again, up until it reaches the limit of five.
| |
|
| |
| If a pod is dormant, only the Vehemoth Phosbat's roar will activate it, which happens when two small lights in the boss's arena are lit up.

| |
| Its name simply comes from it being a sort of cocoon for generating Phosbats.
| |
| | |
| Its scientific name, Tectupervus pteromys, is shared with both the Phosbat and Vehemoth Phosbat.
