Olimar's '''voyage log''' (called '''ship log''' in the area selection screen) is what [[Captain Olimar|Olimar]] writes in about his adventure, at the end of each [[day]], in the [[Pikmin (game)|first ''Pikmin'' game]]. The player can read the page before the [[day results menu]]. The entries can also be accessed at a later time by pressing {{button|gc|y|wii|+|switch|y}} on the [[area selection menu]], which opens a [[Olimar's voyage log menu|menu]] specifically for viewing these logs.

There are 71 messages in all, with a few of them categorized as [[unused content in Pikmin|unused content]]. In-game, the log chosen depends on the activities that happened that day. For example, if Olimar discovered a new mechanic about the Pikmin, he'll write about that, and if not, he might write about any new enemy he found that day. If there is nothing of interest to write about, Olimar will write a miscellaneous journal entry, reminiscing about life on his [[Hocotate|home planet]] and about his chances of survival.

When a log is being written out to the screen, the player can force the entire text to be written at once by pressing {{button|gc|b|wii|b|switch|b}}.

Below are transcriptions of all the entries. Underscores ("_") represent a variable number, like the current number of recovered [[ship parts]]. A line means that the player must press {{button|gc|a|wii|a|switch|a}} or {{button|gc|b|wii|b|switch|b}} to read the next page. Unless otherwise mentioned, these entries are for the [[GameCube]] version and have been kept the same for the ''[[New Play Control!]]'' re-release.

This text was apparently supposed to be seen after all ship parts have been collected.

To sum up, there are three messages with unknown triggers, and are presumed to be unused (on the section titled [[#Others|Others]]). There are some files with their text in Japanese, that talk about stuff not found in regular voyage logs. They have the IDs l, m, n, t, tx00, tx01 and tx02. There are also some second pages for some entries — those marked with Note 1 — that are unused and untranslated.
Finally, some of the logs — those marked with Note 2 — are programmed to display "1 day", despite that never happening in-game.

*According to a piece of [[mail]] in {{p2}}, [[Olimar's wife]] seems aware of Olimar's voyage log.{{cite quote|Today, as I cleaned the bedroom, I found your secret cash stash. I'll just pretend I didn't see that journal of yours...|[[Olimar's wife]]|a piece of [[mail]]}} Considering her somewhat condescending tone, it could imply she did read part of it, and since Olimar is known to write negatively about his family from time to time, probably got offended but chose to ignore it.
**Although, since she notes it as a "journal" rather than a log, it could imply that this is not Olimar's voyage log, but rather a personal journal he had prior to the first game. This could explain his habit of writing down his thoughts in the first place.
