Oddly, North America never received the ''New Play Control!'' version of ''Pikmin 2''. Instead, it received a delayed ''[[Nintendo Selects]]'' version, devoid of ''New Play Control!'' branding, in 2012. There is no difference between the two versions, however. The Korean Wii release of ''Pikmin'' also lacks ''New Play Control!'' branding.
Changes that have been made to Pikmin 1 and, presumably, its sequel, include a new control scheme that allows control of the cursor by pointing at the screen<ref>[http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/929/929327p1.html Controls improved - IGN]</ref>, widescreen support, sound effects played by the Wii remote speaker, and an updated save system<ref>[http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/937/937178p1.html New saving system - IGN]</ref>, which allows players to restart play from any previous day.
