The Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat is an enemy in ''Pikmin 2''. They resemble large, blue, floating jellyfish with yellow spots that float through the air. They attack the Pikmin by inhaling them and trapping them inside. The Pikmin will then be digested one by one over considerably long periods of time. It is vulnerable on all parts of its body, and has moderately low health. [[Purple Pikmin]] will automatically make this creature fall due to their weight, they are also good for defeating it, as stunning it will prevent it from getting back into air. When defeated, all undigested Pikmin will be recovered. This enemy is related to the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat, although according to Olimar, the species is struggling as the Greater Spotted Jellyfloats are a foreign species that have wandered into their territory, and being stronger, they are causing the numbers of Lessers to decline. They seem to have antenna similar to the [[Puffstool]] in Pikmin 1.They also have an easteregg when you turn off music and turn the sound up you can hear them singing a tune. They do not return in ''Pikmin 3''

The Flying Spotted Jellyfloat is an enemy found in ''Hey! Pikmin''. They are very similar in appearance to other Spotted Jellyfloats, and are blue in color. However, they are considerably smaller and faster than other members of the Jellyfloat family, and opt to crush Pikmin instead of absorbing them. They can be found flying high in the sky; when they are above Olimar, they will quickly fall down to the ground to attack, then retreat to the skies. They can be defeated by throwing a single Pikmin onto them.

The Greater Spotted Jellyfloat is an enemy in ''Pikmin 2''. As their name implies, they resemble larger, purple versions of the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat. They have slightly more health and can be defeated in the same manner, but can suck up more Pikmin at once, and even your captains if you're not careful. Likewise, all undigested Pikmin and leaders are returned when it is defeated (the Pikmin take a pretty long time to digest so don't panic if a lot get sucked up). This species is also rarer than the other Jellyfloat.

Likewise, all undigested Pikmin and leaders are returned when it is defeated. Ingested Pikmin will survive a long time before being digested. This species is also rarer than the other Jellyfloat.

The '''Medusal Slurker''' is an enemy from ''[[Pikmin 3]]''. It was the first new enemy fightable in the E3 2012 demo. It is a floating, translucent pink jellyfish-like enemy with two small serpentine eyes and a single antenna sprouting from its top that resembles a seeding dandelion. It has a green pouch inside its head to store food. This pouch has a growth like a human uvula hanging from it, which it extends to the ground and expands to trap Pikmin and leaders. It is first fought in the [[Garden of Hope]], as defeating it will allow you to discover the [[Rock Pikmin]] it had in its body. Unlike the other jellyfloats, this enemy never kills your Pikmin, simply absorbing them into its body. They are trapped until the enemy is defeated. This enemy is a lesser evolved version of the Jellyfloats, or they may be in a different subsection altogether. It can be implied that the competition with the '''Medusal Slurker '''and the Jellyfoats for who owned the skies and who owned food on the ground killed off a lot of the Jellyfloats, making them extinct. The '''Medusal Slurker '''replaces the Jellyfloats in Pikmin 3, although they are much more plentiful.

This family's name, and the name of the creatures in it, is a portmanteau of "{{w|jellyfish}}" and "float". The term "Spotted" in the members's names refers to the spots on their bodies. Their Japanese common names use the word {{j|マンマン|Manman}}, which has no meaning, but is pronounced similarly to {{j|マンコ|manko}}, a slang term used to refer to a woman's external genitals. In addition, the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat's ''Japanese name'' refers to {{j|ホト|hoto}}, an archaic term that also refers to the same body area. This connection may be due to the creatures, with the antennae, being similar to a {{w|uterus}} and the {{w|ovary|ovaries}}, even if those are internal body parts.
 
The genus name used in their scientific names is ''Cephalus'', which can be assumed to be related to the real-world {{w|Cephalopod|Cephalopoda}} class of animals, or the word "head".
