The '''Doomsday Apparatus''' ({{j|超重ギガンティス|Chōjyu Gigantisu|Super-heavy Gigantis}}) is the heaviest and most valuable treasure in ''[[Pikmin 2]]''. It is a heavily rusted 1-kilogram {{w|dumbbell}}, and is found in the [[Wistful Wild]], not too far from the landing site. Due to its weight, 100 [[Purple Pikmin]] are needed to be able to pick up this item; and even then, it takes at least a quarter of a day to carry back to the [[Hocotate ship]].

While carrying the treasure, it is advised to attack and defeat the [[Gatling Groink]], [[Dwarf Bulborb]]s and [[Decorated Cannon Beetle]] &ndash; and if possible, [[Yellow Wollywog]] and [[Fiery Blowhog]] &ndash; in the area, so as to clear the way in advance for exploring the rest of the level.

The best places to amass Purples to reach 100 for the Doomsday Apparatus are the [[Bulblax Kingdom]] and the [[Subterranean Complex]]. The former is closer to the ship and has a shorter trek as it has two [[Violet Candypop Bud]]s on sublevel 4 and one on sublevel 6. The latter only has its three Violet Candypop Buds sublevel 8 but also has two [[Queen Candypop Bud]]s along with many [[egg]]s that can be obtained throughout the cave and less hazards than Bulblax Kingdom's sublevels. Note that the "Give Up and Escape" option in the pause menu will let the player take all of their Purple Pikmin to the surface which is useful for leaving Bulblax Kingdom without needing to head to the bottom floor. It is recommended to get the [[Pluckaphone]] before doing this to make the process faster.

==Weight==
The label on this object says that the Doomsday Apparatus weighs 1 kilogram. This discovery has led to a lot of confusion. Although creating a formula from this would allow easy conversion between the in-game weight units and real-world units, the theory breaks down when real-world objects are weighed and compared to the weights predicted. For example, the [[Proton AA]] treasure weighs 6 units, whereas actual AA batteries weigh as much as 25 grams.
