The '''candypop family''' is a family of plants in the {{ps}}. Initially, the family consisted only of [[Candypop Bud]]s, but from ''Pikmin 4'' onward, other important gameplay plants were identified as being part of the family as well.
'''Candypop Buds''' are large flowers with fleshy petals and are found in all three [[Pikmin (series)|Pikmin games]]. When [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] are tossed into these gigantic blossoms, they spit out new Pikmin seeds which match the color of their petals. In ''[[Pikmin (game)|Pikmin]]'', Candypops will wither after 50 Pikmin are thrown in, but this number was reduced to 5 in the [[Pikmin 2|second game]], likely due to the 2 new species. Using Pikmin of the same color as the flower will not count against this limit, although they will be reverted to leaf Pikmin and planted in the ground.

In ''[[Pikmin 3]]'' they have a different appearence, consisting of a large bucket-like cup in the middle of the flower, most likely as a "target" for captains to aim pikmin. They also behave differently, as they stay closed until they are approached.

Olimar notes in a [[Olimar's Notes|journal entry]] state that Candypop Buds could be the next step in Pikmin evolution, and in another that Candy pops could be the same species.

'''Crimson Candypop Buds''' are red [http://pikmin.wikia.com/wiki/Candypop_Bud Candypop Buds] found in all three [http://pikmin.wikia.com/wiki/Pikmin_(series) ''Pikmin'' games]. When non-red Pikmin are thrown in, they will change into Red Pikmin. Scientific name: ''Flora expellus''

When Pikmin are tossed into a Candypop Bud, Pikmin of the same color are shot back out, allowing Pikmin to be converted between types. There are 8 colors of Candypop Bud, each corresponding to a type of Pikmin. (In ''Pikmin 2'', different colors of Candypop Buds are considered different species, while in ''Pikmin'', ''Pikmin 3'' and ''Pikmin 4'', all colors are considered the same species.)

Queen Candypop Buds are unique in the Candypop family. Their petals are white with colored spots which cycle between red, yellow, and blue. When a Pikmin of any type is tossed in, 9 seeds which match the color of the spots are ejected, giving players an eight-Pikmin gain. After the seeds are ejected, the Queen Candypop Bud wilts. ==Trivia==

* While Candypop Buds in German are called "Königinblume" (Queen flower), the Queen Candypop Bud is called "Kaiserinblume" (Empress flower).
* In Sub level 5 of [[Glutton's Kitchen]], a Queen Candypop Bud may fall from the ceiling. If you look closely, you can see that it has a green root. There are also several Candypop Buds in Sub level 6 of [[Bulblax Kingdom]]. Here, if you go into close-up view, and if the Candy pop Bud is distant enough, you may see a root.
* [[Yellow Pikmin]] holding bomb-rocks cannot be thrown into Candypop Buds. If a Pikmin holding a bomb-rock in [[Pikmin 3]] is thrown in, the flower with take it in and die, killing the Pikmin, too.
* Like the [[Creature Montage]] notes state, the Candypop Buds could be the next step in pikmin evolution.
* In ''[[Pikmin 3]]'', if a [[captain]] enters the vicinity of a Candypop Bud, it will open, and when they leave it will close once again.
* Thrown [[captains]] will simply slide off of the Candypop Buds.
* The roots of vanished Candy pop Buds remain in ''[[Pikmin 3]]'', while they never have in previous games.
* In ''<nowiki>Pikmin 3'</nowiki>''s japanese guide book, the names of the pink and rock Candypop Buds translate roughly to "Slate Candy pop Bud" and "Alizarin Candy pop Bud", respectively. Slate is a dark grey, polished substance, while alizarin is a deep red mineral that is pinkish when used in small ammounts. These Candypop Buds were not given any english name, to date.
