The '''Burrowing Snagret''' ({{j|ヘビガラス|Hebi Garasu|Snake Crow}}) is a [[boss]] in the {{pg}}. It appears to be a combination of a bird and a snake, and is a member of the [[Snavian family]]. It has low health for a boss, but it often appears in groups. In {{p4}}, fledgling versions called [[Downy Snagret]]s can be found.

When killed in [[Pikmin (game)|''Pikmin'']], Burrowing Snagrets explode into 7 random 1 [[pellet]]s and a 5 pellet; in ''Pikmin 2'', a dead Burrowing Snagret leaves behind its head to be returned to an [[Onion]] or the [[Research Pod]]. In ''[[Pikmin 3]]'', the Snagret's entire body comes out of the ground to be salvaged, revealing a foot much like the one on a [[Pileated Snagret]]. It does the same in ''[[Pikmin 4]]'', though its body coils up once it dies, making it easier for the Pikmin to carry it, instead of having to drag the limp body behind its head.

==Behaviour==
When idle, the Burrowing Snagret will stay hidden underground; only emerging once [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] or a [[leader]] enters its area. Once Pikmin or a leader enter its area, it will emerge from the ground and will begin to attack. In the first two games, there is a chance the Snagret will struggle to emerge from the ground. This causes its head to stay close to the ground for a few seconds. In {{p3}} and {{p4}}, it will always take its time when emerging from the ground. It does this by first emerging, and then shaking its head, before fully appearing. If the leader and/or Pikmin leave its territory, it will burrow itself back into the ground until its territory is once again approached. If the leader or Pikmin are in its territory, but far away enough that it cannot attack, it will stay above ground and keep watch.

The Burrowing Snagret's main method of attack is to quickly peck nearby Pikmin and eat them. It will attack when there are Pikmin close enough to make it reveal itself, and once they are caught in its beak they are quickly eaten. It is able to eat multiple Pikmin in one attack phase. In the first two games, the Snagret is able to attack 3 Pikmin before it eats them. In ''Pikmin 3'', the Snagret will be able to attack 5 Pikmin before eating. In ''Pikmin 4'', the Snagret will attack 3-4 Pikmin before it stops to swallow; although it will peck at the ground 5 times. Whilst it gets attacked in {{p1}} and {{p2}}, it rocks its head back and forth multiple times, indicating it's about to re-burrow itself. However, after doing this little segment, there's a chance it might attack once more. In ''Pikmin 3'' and ''Pikmin 4'', it gains an additional attack. This attack involve it stabbing its peak into the ground to attack the leader. If the leader is caught, it will damage them slightly and regurgitate them; otherwise it will get its beak stuck in the ground for a few seconds. If enough Pikmin are attacking its head, it will shake off all attackers before quickly burrowing itself back into the ground. In ''Pikmin 3'' and ''Pikmin 4'', once the Snagret receives enough damage, it begins to lose the feathers off of its head. Finally, in ''Pikmin'', if the Snagret has a Pikmin in its beak and is receiving heavy damage, it will re-burrow itself alongside the Pikmin - killing it instantly.

In ''Pikmin'', the Snagret can eat [[bomb rock]]s, in addition to the [[Yellow Pikmin]] holding it, and will take minuscule damage from the bomb rock. The Snagret is also capable of eating multiple bomb rocks at once, similarly to how it eats multiple Pikmin at once. This isn't the case in ''Pikmin 3'' and ''Pikmin 4'', as they are only capable of eating one bomb rock at a time (which deal a third of its health). Additionally, they also don't eat the Pikmin - they just eat the bomb rock. Once the bomb rock is eaten, its stomach expands due to the explosion before it quickly burrows itself back into the ground. This is also the case for [[mine]]s and [[trackonator]]s; [[ice blast]]s, once eaten, instantly freeze the Snagret.

The Snagret has had a different death animation in each game. In ''Pikmin'', it will scream into the sky before falling onto the floor in the direction it was facing. Its body will then lightly explode, leaving a trail of dust and feathers, starting from its head and leading to the end of its exposed torso. In its place, there will be a five-pellet where its head was and seven one-pellets where its torso is (six if it's the Snagret with the [[Geiger Counter]], as the final pellet near the bottom of its torso is replaced with the ship part). Each pellet is a random color. In ''Pikmin 2'', it has the same animation as it does in ''Pikmin'', except this time the explosion is more violent and it leaves its head. The explosion's force shoots the Snagret's head into the sky for a few seconds before landing back on the ground. The animation is a lot more quick compared to ''Pikmin'', and the explosion instead starts from the bottom of its torso; leading to its head. In addition, the scream it does in ''Pikmin 2'' is more violent compared to its scream in ''Pikmin''. In ''Pikmin 3'', the Snagret will jump out of the ground and scream, revealing its single foot, before falling on to the floor. However, it leaves its whole body instead. The same behavior happens in ''Pikmin 4'', the same animation is present from ''Pikmin 3'', but its body coils up instead of lying straight. If killed before eating Pikmin, but still in its beak, the Pikmin will survive and will be present in the beak in the first two games, and instantly released in the next two.

In {{p1}}, 3 Burrowing Snagrets are found in the same area of [[The Forest of Hope]], one of which contains the [[Geiger Counter]]. One is also found in [[The Final Trial]] in [[Challenge Mode (Pikmin)|Challenge Mode]], blocked by a white [[reinforced wall]].

In {{p2}}, a Burrowing Snagret is the main boss of the [[White Flower Garden]], found on sublevel 5 (this one contains the [[Five-man Napsack]]). Many are encountered throughout the [[Snagret Hole]], with one even near the entrance. On sublevel 3 of the Snagret Hole, one contains the [[Meat Satchel]] and another on sublevel 6 contains the [[Triple Sugar Threat]]. Another is on sublevel 4 of the [[Hole of Heroes]], and yet another guards the [[Pink Menace]] in the [[Valley of Repose]]. Burrowing Snagrets are the most common boss-class enemies in ''Pikmin 2'', having eight different in-game occurrences outside of [[Challenge Mode (Pikmin 2)|Challenge Mode]].

In {{p3}}, there is a Burrowing Snagret in the [[Twilight River]], holding the [[Insect Condo]]. There are also Burrowing Snagrets in [[Mission Mode]] levels, including [[Silver Lake]], [[Tropical Wilds Remix]], [[Garden of Hope Remix]] (which contains 4 of them), [[Twilight River Remix]], and [[Shaded Garden Remix]]. In the [[Side Stories]], 1 can be found in [[Looking for Louie]]. In [[Bingo Battle]], 1 can be found in layout C of [[Arid Metropolis]], and 2 can be found in layout B of [[Parched Brook]].

In {{p4}}, a Burrowing Snagret is present in the [[Blossoming Arcadia]], where it holds the [[Brush of Wisdom]]. **The ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl|Brawl]]'' trophy states that no one has ever seen a Burrowing Snagret's tail before.
